Like I always say, a team that wins is not allowed to bring upgrades for the next two races. So as long as you keep winning, no upgrades until the other teams catch up.

This is actually a good idea, which is why Mercedes will protest it on safety grounds.

It's usually Ferrari that are the one team alone against any changes designed to spice up the racing

Perhaps the worst rule that ensures F1 will forever be boring is the one that states "the FIA can't introduce/change X rule without unanimous agreement from all the teams"

Let the speculations begin. What does the extra paddle on Vettel's steering wheel do? And why doesn't Kimi have it?

It triggers the clippers in his helmet that give him that bad stepped haircut.

The level of whine here has reached incredible levels here, incompatible with how this season has been playing so far, with 3 teams and 6 (well, 5...) drivers having consistently direct shots at victory and the top 5 remaining in direct line of sight of each other the whole race. A minor mistake (Max in Australia/China) costs you 2 or 3 positions immediately, not just time.

I mean, FFS. Some members here, including some of the veterans that used to be sensible people, are actively looking for reasons to be bitter or negative about the races. Who cares if it was entertaining "just" because of the safety car? Or "just" because of this or that incident, or this or that driver/team being on a bad day? There will always be something that makes a race more or less interesting, just fucking enjoy it when it turns out to be exciting.

spontaneous safety car calls are the best thing that can happen in F1 racing today

I use a simple formula for most stuff on TV nowadays...

If televised event = entertaining [THEN] Tom = entertained and [THEREFORE] happy.

I couldn't care less how it's acheived. Entertain me, and I shall watch again hoping for more.

Now that FIA bans exhaust blowing, it is assumed that the purpose for this switch was to generate extra exhaust gas to generate extra downforce in the rear of the car. That or it takes 50hp away from Kimi's car.

With Dan Ric win in Shanghai, we have completed a 100 races streak of wins from either Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull.

Last time we had a win outside these 3 teams: Australia 2013 with Kimi at Lotus.

Since Mexico 2016, the Fia have decreed all drivers have to censor their own team radio broadcasts if they're going to swear

This is Vettel's censorship lever should he feel the need to rant at Charlie Whiting again

His personal profanity buzzer

Now all he needs is an extra button to cancel out his whining.

I don't think I fall under your "veterans that used to be sensible people", but it is worth mentioning that for example China was only brought back to life because of the SC. It would have been a stinker, but Mercedes and Ferrari looked at each other and forgot about Red Bull.
It could (and should) be a counterreaction against those OMG MERCEDES HAS LOST ITS ADVANTAGE (no, they could have easily won all 3 races, will improve their game and win 16 of the next 18 races) or OMG F1 IS GREAT AGAIN (no, last 2 races were better than expected, but look at why and know that this isn't going to be the case for every race).

What I don't get about the complaints on this season is that the races were dull, and China would have been dull without the SC even though there was a battle between Vettel and Bottas coming.

C'mon, all three races had at least some contention for the win in the final third and this is better than most season beginnings we had. We've had much worse racing than this in this decade.

On the other hand, overtaking is too complicated with these cars. Ricciardo only piled up that much of overtakings because he had a huge advantage on tyres. Raikkonen with fresher medium tyres struggled to drive close to Bottas and this gives a measure on how hard is to have proper battles now.

It's like you say, overtaking. In Australia Hamilton-Mercedes was the fastest combination. By bad luck he gets stuck behind Vettel. Ok, he stayed very close. But was there excitement? No, because everyone knew he wasn't going to pass.
For the same reason, I don't think Vettel was ever going to pass Bottas in China.
