Did he not win? Jeremy Shaw was making a big deal about him winning on his return since his accident...

Oh well, either way it's great to see

Nah that was about not mattering that they missed out on the win because it was still a good effort.

They were in position to win but the rain at the end with an inexperienced driver didn't help. Hell of an effort though and they led for a long time.

IMSA's top class to be named GTP beginning in 2023

(I saw this coming when IMSA brought back the trademarks in the USPTO database back 3 years ago)

It's so amazing...

My tastes as an adult racing fan have evolved to a point they've come back around to the cars that got me hooked on racing to begin with.

Oh great, as if it wasn't already hard enough to explain LMH and LMDh (both "Hypercar" in WEC) to new followers.

NASCAR (IMSA) & the ACO was always gonna market the overall class as their own thing in each of their series - it's how they make money off the trademarks with merch and licensing (either it be model cars or video games) + their way of trying to grab eyeballs by tricking the brain (even tho it's the same thing).

tl;dr sporty car racing always difficult to explain to anyone that isn't a diehard - especially in this modern era where [insert sanctioning body / promoter here] make even more stupid & confusing rules because it "supposedly" makes the racing more fair & "attracts" more gentleman drivers (who are just as confused as anyone else when half of them probably don't give a shit & just want to race)

I hope they follow and do a Muscle Car/old timers series like the Aussies do. Or Peter Auto and Group C cars hosted at Le Mans.

Looks good! I was always curious to see how each manufacturer would approach the stylisation

So as someone who finds prototype sportscar classes utterly confusing, will all of these new cars be competing for the outright win at next year's Le Mans?

Correct, which is fricken awesome!

Also, that Caddy looks so much like the pencil concept sketches you usually see that have straight lines etc. But apparently that is far from what the final version will look like

It exists as a physical model too. Probably will visibly change but this looks like plausible shape. It doesn't have mirrors and the fin is transparent...

LMH: Toyota, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Ferrari
LMDh: Cadillac, Porsche, Acura, BMW, Alpine, Lamborghini

Everyone else should be at Le Mans 2023 except BMW (IMSA-only), Acura (IMSA-only), Alpine (debut 2024) and Lamborghini (debut 2024).

LMH and LMDh are the two rulesets but they'll race alongside in a single class, called Hypercar in WEC/Le Mans and GTP in IMSA.

LMH is all-bespoke. LMDh is basically DPI 2.0 so direct continuation of IMSA's still current DPI ruleset and they need to be based on a LMP2 chassis from any of the four approved constructors.

Entry lists might be great but on the other hand both rule rulesets are so technically so dumbed down and BoP has killed the idea of letting the best car win that I feel rather disillusioned.
