Speculation that Acura wanted customer cars run by different teams and Penske wanted to keep the exclusivity. Also that Penske was eyeing another manufacturer for LMDh era but that seems a bit odd since nothing has been announced. |

GTE has had a good run. But we don't need a Ferrari 488 GTE AND a Ferrari 488 GT3. I'll happily take the cheaper one with more competition. |

I think they wouldn't do this if Corvette wasn't planning a GT3 version soon. Killing GTE in WEC/at Le Mans can't happen this soon as there is still a good grid for GTE Am. |

It might take a couple of years more, yes, but some of the GTE-Am teams already field GT3 versions of their cars in other series. And I think being able to run the same car in virtually every blue riband endurance race could be a huge pull factor for AM drivers/owners. |
