Maybe I should of worded it as throwback paint of the year (couldn't help myself, I love throwback paints / when they are done right), don't be surprised to see more teams doing some sort throwback related promos (paints, crew gear, social media promos or the like) throughout the year as IMSA is encouraging it (50th anniversary of the series / same style of promo that NASCAR did in 98).

Missed most of the IPC race, but happy to see some more racing during the winter at least.

According to the story in the replies, it was for running under the minimum weight

So I guess running light to attract potential sponsors isn't a thing over in the US as much as Europe, eh? :?

Well they're also setting up BoP aren't they? In which case, why the fuck would you want to look fast!

Not only that, but IMSA also has 2 other Civic teams to get data from as well. Pretty odd to be doing that at a sanctioned test where IMSA looks at it like any other race weekend.

I miss the racing of the 80's and 90's, but I'm also intrigued how we (teams) can close the gap of a 200bhp deficit with aero and mechanical grip.

From a sort of "pure" race fan standpoint, the old records are more exciting because of the overpowered cars that were sort of a handful braking/turning/accelerating. But it is still kind of impressive from a technical standpoint, like you said, how some new records are being set.

I wish prototypes & sports cars (along with many other series) would go back to having extremely over powered cars

At least IndyCar is starting to go back down that route :)

Indeed, powerful cars that are beasts to control are a lot more exciting to watch from a spectator point of view than high downforce, underpowered machines that make up all their speed in the corners and have too much downforce to do much about overtaking. It's a bit IRL.

But ho hum, that ship sailed about 20 years ago....
