Wooooa! DP's look longer, lower and faster now than ever before. This I can like :D

Just the weird angle of the photo plus it's editing.

Wayne Taylor, whose eponymous team is running a Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP in the USC, expressed disappointment with IMSA's move.

"I am a little bit disillusioned that we have effectively had to build a new car to go as fast as an LMP2 and now we are having to spend money to slow ourselves down," he said.

"I think this hands the P2s a clear advantage."

Hope his team get's the worst results possible this season

It was always going to happen that there would be much moaning trying to equalise the two classes.

In fighting between Daytona and Prototype was a given. Nobody is gonna go "ehh...this seems fair."

The way he does it is really not elegant/classy and more like a desperate cry.

Did he expect that they would let things the way they were after the last testings? Something inevitably would nned to be done to bring them closer.

I'm aware this guy is around in North American Sportscar racing for a very long time(I remember him from when he was a driver in the great early 90's era) and have been extremely hard to keep his business alive throughout the years(he's really admirable and respectable regarding that). But this situation has been vastly the same for almost everybody gravitating on similar types/forms of racing and they need to work together and concede, to a certain extent, in order to try make it somewhat healthier and easier, or less difficult, shall I say, for everybody.

huge costs with these small-diameter engine air-restrictors to reduce their top-speed advantage, surely will take most, if not all, DP-running teams bankrupt.

What a rushed decision. In my opinion, they should have waited after Daytona and compare laptimes on more "conventional" tracks to get a better picture.

What if, come Sebring, LMPs are a second faster than DPs? Another tweak to make them slower, and so on for the whole season?

Honestly I can't blame Taylor on this one, this has the potential to turn nonsensical at any time.

pretty sure they'll end up re-BoPing for other tracks, there's no way they'll keep this the whole year

you took the words out of my mouth. This is somewhat a knee-jerk, half-assed fix to just try make it more competitive at the very important Daytona 24h. Given the particularity of it, they will need to reBoP for the remainder of the season. Not a BoP for each track, obviously, but maybe a definitive one for the more alike tracks.

That was the whole plan...they've got another test at Sebring in February to set BoP for the conventional tracks.

They know Daytona is an outlier so it got it's own special BoP compared to the rest of the tracks.

So he's complaining that his cars were too fast and being slowed down?

Fine, lets go back to the old rules and merge them without a proper BOP. The DPs would get shat on. He's complaining about the amount he's had to spend on his car, but at the end of the day that's because he chose to run a DP rather than LMP when it was 2 different series, and now they have to be merged. Left with the original cars, the DPs wouldn't have a chance. So he should think of it as spending money to actually be able to race the LMPs, which he wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

He's complaining about having to spend money to slow his cars down. I'd complain too.

will anything other than the Daytona's race, itself, be broadcasted? I didn't see any info about it and going from imsa.com, it seems only 25 Jan will have any coverage

Will there be any live coverage of race qualifying?
IMSA.com will not feature live coverage of practice or qualifying at this time.

The new lights system looks way more useful. I know the old system was mainly intended for on track spectators but this looks useful for television too.
