In a sense, I agree with deggis. Visually there can be some confusion because the same brands/models run in different classes. However, if you're just talking about the "occassional" audience: they just want to see cars race. Classes do not matter. Once you get more interest in what you are seeing, it won't take long before you're reading a bit about the series and learning that there are different categories.

It's same at Le Mans imo. LMP1 and LMP2 is hard to keep apart if you do not really follow racing at all. They're just fast cars, different from the fast cars that look like real cars. (not trying to dumb down the non-freaks, it's pretty normal imo)

And they don't care about the class winners, just the overall winner

But if we start catering sportscar racing to regular people then we have to remove classes all together...which at that point it isn't sportscar racing really.

I don't know if that was directed at me, but my point is exactly that :p Since regular people do not really care about classes, there is no reason to scrap them or make them clearer. I like the way it's organized now

But the current TUSCC class structure for sure isn't ideal, since both of the GT classes were indended to be top classes in the original series.

My ideal(/fantasy) is actually 1-2 LMP classes (1 for amateurs) and single GT class. This probably doesn't fit well with these "everybody wins" ethos though.

Daytona Entry List: http://f.cl.ly/items/2c2s0M0i3l2z1T2g1P ... 201-15.pdf

67 entries: 18 Proto/DPs, 9 PC, 11 GTLM and 29 GTD - other than the overabundance of Porsches in the GTD field it's looking pretty good and varied. (no real complaint about the Porkers though as it doesn't seem like any other entries got turned away).

Callum Lockie is listed in one of the TRG Astons - I haven't heard of him in 10 years!

Last time I heard from him was when he did some Belcar-races in 2006 in his 360

It's still unclear to me if there will be a full stream on IMSA.com for non-US audience or not. Guess not...

The press release didn't mention it, only night streaming for when FOX Sport is showing infomercials. So I guess not.
