They've lost Compuware as a sponsor. Amount of plain yellow seems to be screaming "we could use a sponsor".

I honestly don't believe anyone will be paying any attention to GTD.

Agreed. But I would also have said that nobody would care THAT much about the DP category whilst P2s are on track had they not swung it in such a way that the DPs will dominate Daytona.

Yea, shame about that but thank heavens they didn't dare mess with GTLM.

Well, it's been quite a long time since we had two GT classes (not counting GTC in ALMS) and I find GTD pretty interesting. Even though I would have preferred to see the Camaros and BMW M6 again. With Nissan supposed to join halfway through the season, it's going to be great. Plus, let's not fool ourselves: GT3 format is probably what is going to be the backbone of international GT classes for the foreseeable future.

I suppose yes the plus point of GTD is they can drop GTC, which really was a nonsensical class anyway.

Good luck IMSA explaining the average fan why R8 can't beat the Corvette etc. Just saying that the classes are maybe too close (theoretical) speed and looks wise.

Just tell them GTLM are purpose-built and GTD are production based. It's oversimplified (and only partially true) but it works.
Yes, the classes are too close. That's why we need new GT regs...

If the "average fan" can't be bothered to take a couple of minutes to check in the program what the difference between the classes is then they should piss off and watch one of those mindless games like Basketball instead.

Looking forward to the GTD class as well as GTLM despite the naysayers - only 10 or 12 GT cars at the 24 Hours of Daytona would be a bit daft wouldn't it?

We've had multiple GT classes for a long time, so I don't see what's more difficult now tbh.

imho there less visual difference than during GT1 vs. GT2 years. And has to be even more confusing that some cars are in both classes now (Z4, Viper). The older GT3-derived cars are starting to look old and a bit basic compared to the wide bodykit style of GTE/GTLM, so that helps for sure.

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I think the difference is WAY bigger than say, 2003-2008 times when we had GT1 and GT2.

I know, but deggis was talking about casual audience. Not easy for them to understand class differences when you've got most of the cars derived from the same road-going model in both classes (Z4, 911, Ferrari, Aston, Viper).

None of the cars shown in that picture are going to race this year (except for the Porsche). :p

The vette is just pure car porn.

For the classes, i'm just not interessed by by the GTD and the PC categories. All my eyes are for the DP/P2 fight at Daytona and Sebring, et GTLM for the whole season. Go Porsche! :flag:
