It sure shapes up to be a very closely fought race, not sure if we're going to be in for a BIG surprise though (aka diesels failing)

Weeeeellll... I think we're looking at a classic even regardless of this year's prior events. Audi and Peugeot look so close on pace and reliability, and some of the Petrols have shown they can run reliably with reasonable pace (Pescarolo). The feeling is that the petrols will probably be around the 3:34 mark for laptimes, plus the 22 second advantage for pitstops. Safety cars are going to make that a big deal...

Can't fucking wait.

So, according to Eurosport's schedule, Eurosport 1 will broadcast all segments except for 16:15-20:30, 9:30-10:00 and 12:15-13:30 which will be on Eurosport 2.
So that will be 18 hours on Eurosport and 6 hours on Eurosport 2.
At least that's how it will be here in France, but I guess it will be the same in all of Europe.

I also have a list of all the other Le Mans related broadcast from June 6th to the end of the 24 hours, I guess anyone can find them on Eurosport websites, but if needed I can post them.

Schedule here: http://tv.eurosport.co.uk (UK)

If I looked right, 5 hours on ES2. Obviously it varies a little bit between the localized broadcasts, for example here 7 hours.

Still less (on ES2) than last year iirc, so I guess less conflicts with other events or the ratings were good in 2010.

It's not like we haven't had classic Le Mans anyway. 2008 really will go down as one of the greatest ever.

Amateur timing had the Aston at 10 seconds slower than the Audi and Peugeots around Monza. The general rule is you double that for Le Mans, which takes them to 20 seconds. I was hoping they'd improve but it seems they have had to work so much on reliability that they haven't had time to really look at the speed.

Development wise, Audi took a completely new rear wing, including planes and endplates to Monza, a new rear deck lid and engine cover, and a revised front end. The development that the 908 and R18s are going through is proof that the gap to the petrols isn't because of engines, it's because of teams. No private team should be able to get within reach of works cars with this sort of development. The day the rules are adjusted so that private petrol cars can fight the works diesels is the day that Audi and Peugeot move back to petrol and we have the same issue.

How is Aston's reliability coming on anyway?

2 engine failures in the early May test after Spa. The Monza test on May 31/June 1, the best run was 25 laps in 2 hours.

The ACO and the FIA have announced a partnership to morph the ILMC of this year into the FIA World Endurance Championship of next year. Manufacturer and drivers titles go to the prototype teams, with Manufacturer's titles for the GT teams. The season will include at least 6 races including Le Mans... Hopefully some big announcements about that in the coming week with Le Mans right ahead of us.
