Knock out another 100HP... Or maybe give them 4 cylinder Honda Civic engines. Idiots. They had an answer staring them in the face, yet the had to forge along their own route. Any LMP2 chassis, Any engine (Hybrid, Hydrogen, Electric, Gas, Diesel, Alcohol, Unicorns, whatever), Manufacturer specific bodywork for brand identity... Where have I seen that before... Chassis development isn't where the actions at. The drivetrains are where the narrative they want to push is and even then, they ditched the need to have a hybrid system so what's the point? Save costs by not having to develop a chassis and spend the money developing these spaceship engine combinations. OR... Just turn the wick up on the Hypercars. |

The final LMH power/weight figures were the result of the LMDh convergence. So they can't make them much faster or the convergence is dead. Initial plan: 520kw 980kg (but these never made it into a draft rulebook) 2018 December: 520kw 1040kg 2019 December: 585kw 1100kg 2020 May (and December): 500kw 1030kg After that I think they added another +10 kg to Toyotas as baseline BoP. Hybrid was always 200kw (total power, not in addition). |

I'm admittedly out of my depth here, but since this was the very first go around for the LMH cars (right?), wouldn't it be kind of reasonable that they're "slow" at first while teams work out the bugs and come to grips with their new equipment? |

You're right Chris. I wouldn't expect optimum pace out of the box by any stretch. But I wouldn't have expected them to be slower than the next rung down even after those cars had been slowed down. |

True but I don't think 3-5 secs (a safe class difference) can be extracted without some rule changes. Can't make LMH faster than LMDh or the convergence is dead, and also LMP2 can't be slowed down much more or they'll have trouble passing GTEs on straights. FP1, the same story. At least will make for an interesting race http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/ |

Toyota suddenly found 2 seconds down the back of the sofa in FP3. They finished 1-2 but still only a second ahead of LMP2, not exactly comfortable |
