This sounds like most of JFV's post-F1 career, unfortunately.

Didn't really help that the car always broke when he was in it.

I remain totally convinced that his talent was contained in his hair.

He'll be there, just in shadow form only and referred to only as "The Canadian" and "Vanwall number 1" until they pay him enough for next year

This is bullshit because there was a plan and an agreement to create stability and only change it after Le Mans (LMH vs LMDh changes were possible after every two rounds but no changes were made after Portimao).

Back to sandbagging and surprise changes even between the last practice/qualifying and race morning then.

Controversial opinion - Williams were so dominant in the 90's that some very mediocre drivers were given world championships.

Kinda hard to argue against that

This is what I read too just before Sebring: BoP was to remain the same up to and including Le Mans.

I don't know if it was just a "gentleman agreement" or an actual rule, but this really smells like politics. Of the kind Roger Penske is usually involved in...

It has been assumed it was an unanimous agreement between ACO and all teams/OEMs, but not written in the rulebook. Today this story then again suggests these changes were not unanimously agreed.

It is understood the changes were presented by the FIA and the ACO as a fait accompli and there was no attempt to gain the unanimous agreement that in theory was necessary to make revisions outside the prescriptions of a new Hypercar system introduced for 2023.

I admit I find it slightly odd that the ACO/FIA, regardless of agreements, hit their cars so heavily. The WEC Caddy at Sebring was faster than it's IMSA counterpart if memory serves (could be wrong.)

Peugeot not on that list despite having moments of pace... Interesting. Vanwall and Glickenhose are meaningless.

Well, I don't think this behaviour will gain the ACO/FIA any favour among the manufacturers hindered by these revisions.

What's the point of reaching agreements if then the rules are arbitrarily imposed?

Let's hope it's for the better (better racing), but I'm not holding my breath.

Ooooh are we implying that Mika Hakkinen was mediocre? That's a hot take.
