Same reason I adored the Nissan GT-R LM project, and was gutted when it was essentially DOA.

Really want to see this do well, but my heart will be with another team in '23, so we'll see what happens.

Yeah, liked that they were trying something different but it just wasn't ready to race. The hybrid system wasn't ready and they couldn't run it but since they were a manufacturer they had to run with the added weight the hybrid cars were meant to have. They didn't have the right tyres for the front wheels so the drivers were told not to use the kerbs, the whole thing was such a mess.

I clicked on for 5 mins earlier and saw a missed accident spin into the lezmo gravel causing a safety car

They try hard to live up to the Monza cameraman reputation

Graff machine Sebastien Page spins into the Ascari gravel in a half caught half Monza Cameraman incident

Has to be contact or a puncture to have him off at that point though?

Sooooo, just to see if I understood correctly: This year will be the last time Le Mans will be dull in the foreseeable future?

Possibly. Peugeot will debut in 2022 but it is unclear when in 2022.

2022: GTE as now

2023: GTE Am only

2024: GT3, but exact format is still open, could be only Pro-Am and/or some form of 'GT3 Plus'

Motorsport.com said GTE Pro to remain through 2023. Maybe I read that wrong.

I will miss the GTE cars. I miss them now. But, this is the smart play. All the big races will line up with equipment and this allows teams to pick and choose what and where to race.

We could be coming into a truly great age of sportscar racing.

Sportscar365.com said the same thing (GTE Pro gone one year earlier) but then edited it. Dailysportscar has not edited it.

Maybe not set in stone then.
