The ALMS Stream isn't really 1200 though. It downsizes the streams to cope with the server being overloaded, it just claims 1200 since that's what the top quality is.

During Mosport the quality level was selectable (right mouse click) and imho it looked quite close to what it said. Can't tell the bitrate from network traffic though because the stream comes in chunks.

African 6 Hour race planned for Feb 23 - right between Bathurst and Sebring plus WEC opener still TBA very hectic for teams and journos.

Standalone race I think rather then a part of WEC though.

CCE will be making every effort to attract overseas competitors but it is primarily an event for South Africans to enjoy, so get your entries in early, prepare your team and vehicle to the highest standards and let's make The African 6 Hour an event to be proud of, both now and in the future as, we aim for a World Endurance Championship race in the near future. There is great interest overseas in having a WEC race in Africa.

There's a condensed two hour broadcast of this race on ESPN2 tomorrow.

I don't guess that does any of the international members much good though.

Should be broadcast live on alms.com as long as the website doesn't fall over again

That's just streaming from ALMS.com. It's the same feed, re-framed in another site. So it only works if the video feed stays up, which it often doesn't because they overload it with users and to try and stabilise it actually boot users until it becomes smooth. Then as people reconnect it dies again, and they repeat it. If you're lucky enough to get one of slots they don't boot, you MIGHT get a decent video. If not, you're going to be booted continually and the video falls further and further behind live.

TL;DR ALMS can't stream for shit and should use YouTube like Blancpain.

Doh: "incase alms.com goes down again". I put that up so I know, because two weeks ago the main problem was that the whole alms.com went down, removing any chance of watching the stream. The stream feed(s) itself doesn't come from alms.com.

Literally the same video as ALMS.com, lol. They host the site on a potato currently, which don't provide decent bandwidth.

Try that, but don't hold your breath.

ALMS is actually the hardest series in the world to watch now days. Which when you're struggling for entries isn't a good thing.
