The split start is stupid, causes more problems than it solves. Both here and Sebring the GT field have found a prototype sitting in the middle of turn 1. I don't remember there ever being a big pile up before they brought in the split starts?

IMSA throws red flag for thunderbolts 7 miles away but who needs yellow with a car in the middle of the road. That was some late 1980s call right there when a GTO car was on fire in the middle of the track but they still let the race finish and two leaders had to split the fiery wreck.

Then the GTs are deprived of a proper double file start. Split starts seem to me like a solution to a problem that didn't exist.

Just roll back in reverse in the middle of the track in a blind corner, because why not.
