The traditional season opener for North American sports car racing & the kick off to Speedweeks 2022 is here with the 53rd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, featuring the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship.

Roar week features a qualifying race to set the field for the 24, as well as the IMSA Prototype Challenge season opener.

Race week also features the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge - with a 4 hour race on Friday; and 2 races for the IMSA idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup on Thursday & Friday.

I don't know why they're getting so dicey in this qualifying race but it's fun to watch so far.

A 1 hour "sprint" race for pole (including a pointless pit stop feature) seemed like more of a waste of time than the F1 sprints tbh, but Westbrook certainly didn't think so coming to the white flag....

I love how Hindy was saying continually "well this is just for pole for a 24 hour race, they won't be trying too hard" then Richard barnstorms diving down the inside into T1 to try and take the lead and spins himself out...
Yeah, they're not trying... :whistling:

I LOVE the fact they're not BoP'ing the GT3 cars to make the Pro cars faster. If the Pro-Am drivers wind up quicker, so be it. While I loved the GTE/GTLM cars, this GT3 only grid will be fun to watch.
