Aren't they supposed to slow down for a ceremony?

I really really feared for the flagman right there

Protip for the future - keep the flagman off the fucking track

Good grief. That's awful for the WRT team and unnecessary silly for the #31. They weren't being challenged. No need to pull such a dangerous move coming to the flag.

Does Toyota always put Japanes driver on the last lap?

Are we sure they weren't being challenged? The #28 was very close coming out of the chicane and the #31 was being held up by traffic. Hard to tell from the one angle they've shown us (and I doubt they'll be showing it again). Frijns shouldn't have to anticipate a random bloke in the middle of the track while he's fighting for the win

Can we see a dsq for dangerous driving at the flag?

Yeah Jota was very close at the end.. but man that was close. Btw I was thinking that after the clock hits zero the results are official and you just need to cruise to the finish line

Frijns didn't have much choice. If he'd backed off behind the GT traffic the Jota could have got past

(side note - the commentator asking if that was the #41 car is why I paid for the WEC app)

The Jota car was ahead. Does that mean Jota pass WRT on the last lap then, WRT overtook it back before the line? Kinda confused because WRT was 1-2 all the way.

It used to be so that the race director declared it specifically if the race was too close to "call", otherwise the last lap was to become the parade lap with all the marshalls waving and cars going slowly.

But the parade lap has been dropped altogether because I don't remember seeing it in years. Which is nice because tbh it was a bit dumb.

The WRT is ahead - the WRT is the one swerving towards the flagman and the Jota is the dark green KFC car at the back of the pack.

WRT were 1-2 up until the final lap when the #41 broke down, #31 took over the lead and was nearly caught by the #28 Jota

Anyone knows of a good highlight video? Anything between 20 and 60 minutes?

Despite it being antiquated that he still waves from on the track, the flagman is not a random bloke.

Quote:
A Taiwanese team taking part in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race said it was told to remove the island's national flag from its car before competing, local media reported Monday.

The team's owner Morris Chen received a request from organisers to replace Taiwan's national flag with its Olympic version before the race started, according to Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA).

It came after China's Tencent decided not to livestream the event because a "racing team from Taiwan, China used the non-Olympic flag on their car hood," CNA quoted a message posted on Chinese social network Weibo as saying.
