All the reshuffling at Audi regarding Progressive Motorsport has meant that the Veloqx name has now made a sudden reappearence. Suggestion of works supported customer R18s soon.

Veloqx, well that's a name I haven't heard in a while. Would love to see them back.

Also found this on Foxsports website.

Audi's annual LMP1-H budget is $242 million.

WTF, never tought Le Mans had similar kinda budgets as F1.

That doesn't seem quite right. The budget in 2008 for running the R10 was around $20m

Maybe due to the Hybrid tech

That 242 is way higher than other figure I've seen. If that was true, how effective and efficient Toyota is then with their 40-50M budget!?

Old post: viewtopic.php?p=730257#p730257

Those are now old numbers, so probably has gone up a little at least.

Sure you're not referring to the 2nd paragraph (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audi_R10_TDI) which makes no sense whatsoever? 2nd hand information from a newsarticle and likely only meant ALMS.

On this article on Endurance Info they speak about a budget at 200M€. So that's maybe right.

Pour un programme usine et jouer la gagne avec une nouvelle auto, il faut débourser 200 millions d’euros (estimation) avec trois autos pour Le Mans.

Seems way too much for me too. A far cry from F1-like popularity reach and, thus, marketing potential and still the same level of investment?!

Also Dagys made that conclusion and imho it's dumb. Maybe two secs of the commercial could be about the car, but way too niche to for this occasion. "Being back" refers to being back at Superbowl, and generally that just draws a sports = sports connection since they already sponsor so many other sports.

Of course Cox is going to retweet it regardless of what it actually means.

Yep, Le Mans/WEC is a niche and therefore not worthy the most expensive advertising in the world as the target public already knows about the return and the rest won't care and even know what's about anyway

As you said, if this will ever happen, it will be just normal street car ad(targeted to general viewer) with possibly some seconds of image from the LMP1, just for the appeal of the amazing looks

Yeah, but a budget does not become 10 times higher in 6 years, whilst attracting new teams.

I hadn't seen that particular page, but if you google around you'll find numbers between $15m to $25m.

The problem with these numbers is there is no evidence from anybody at Audi that these are even remotely close. These just seem to be rumours that somebody posted and it was taken as fact (something Mr Dagys is very bad at). The same people who say Toyota operate on $50m, say Audi operate on $100m. That's under half of what this Fox estimate is. Given Fox also claimed the Mazda was the first diesel LMP in the US, and the DeltaWing is a one of a kinda American car designed to tackle Le Mans, it's kinda hard to take them seriously when they start posting budgets that seem wildly off what we've seen before.

Apparently porsche spent 150m (presumably euro) but again it's a rumour from one of the drivers. Given the tech and development involved though I wouldn't be surprised for it to be around the 100 mark.

Put with Joey Hand dropped in both IMSA and DTM, what will he do next season? He's a great endurance driver still.

Warning: graphic images.

The most idyllic part of Sarthe will look now a bit less idyllic. This has been in the making for months or weeks now. Altough these look exactly like a normal public road shoulders, DSC now has a confirmation that they were done in response to the Rockenfeller-Kauffman accident in 2012. Facepalm. Drivers are already totally disregarding the track borders, so this could just make things worse and become just an extension of overtaking space to do hazardous moves. I think this concerns the whole section from Mulsanne to Porsche Curves.

Well the 2 foot they've gained isn't really a lot in comparison to some tracks.

Welp, false sense of security is usually a result of financial thinking. But it is not as bad as I feared.

Do they need BMW's explicit permission to enter Le Mans?
