A Flying Lizard Porsche, a C6-R and the BP Mazda are leading the Street View car. Cool stuff.

Porsche GT3 Cup cars from the Patrón Challenge support series can participate starting from Miller Motorsports Park and will form some kind of own Challenge Class.

Nicely done press release, one might even get the idea this was not done because 15 car grid does not look good

3 P1, 3 P2, 11 GT2

This is what we have to look forward to at St. Pete. Amazing compared to last year.

GT2 battle should be epic at least. :)

To be honest, St.Pete race was sad to see. Start grid lowest ever? plus we lost Risi and another BMW so early.

No more Audis until (maybe) Petit Lemans. And no Porsche Spyders anymore.. LMP1, LMP2 and GT1 are just big jokes.

i think the ALMS is the most efficted series by the finacial crisis. but sports car as a whole is in big danger.. very sad to say.. i love sports cars.

I don't see the sportscars in danger
82 cars applied for 55 spots at Le Mans - enough cars on reserve for the withdrawals
LMS season opener at Barcelona had 40+ cars
More will come to Spa to prepare for Le Mans
Audi launched the R8 GT3 car which will race in at least 3 championships
BMW launched a new GT2 car
Nissan and Ford launched a new GT1 car

The only problem we have is that we have a year between two very different rules - you can only check the health status of sportscar racing in 2010
We have only lost Embassy Racing and Essex because of reasons directly related to the economic crisis.
For example Audi does only Sebring and Le Mans, but they have a GT3 programme running as well as DTM
Todays GT1 is dead by the rulebook

ALMS is in a bad condition I have to admit, but ALMS is not everything in sportscar racing and they will recover when we have stable rules again

I know Nissan launched the GTR for GT1 class racing, but when did Ford bring a car up to GT1?

Ford doesn't really have much to do with it... Matech built a GT1 version of the Ford GT (kind of like what Doran did with it in ALMS GT2).

New rules are for 2011.

And should be postponed to 2012, imo.

fuck, no more Live ALMS on Motors

Quote:
Dear all,
ALMS definitely stays on the channel, but considering the current economic climate and the cost of satellite feeds and the lack of support from the industry, we've decided to move our "Live & as-Live" coverage to a fully delayed show one week after the events.
The races will obvioulsy be shown in full, using all the footage we get from the US.
Petit Le Mans remains as a fully LIVE event.
