Similarly one can then say there is nothing groundbreaking in using lightweight composites. I'm not a huge believer in the road releavancy bullshit manufacturers like to put in their cheeky press releases, but for sure the DW's layout won't be much useful for real world sedans.

Actually I didn't say it was more impressive, because I would say DW is more impressive (I was impressed or surprised, because I expected it to fail miserably), but I still just don't like having it around. I would probably appreciate it more if it had never taken part any ACO race and would have stayed just some crazy project.

DW only wasn't a complete fail because it runs out of regulations(massively underweighted, ground effects and etc).

The car is an engineering abomination(maybe they should add square wheels to it) and, to complete it's disgrace, it's the uggliest race car ever

DW, with no ground effect and 900Kg of weight, as other P1/P2 cars, even with same engine, will be absolutely trashed.

DW was always a PR gimmick and I deeply despise it

You're completely missing the point of it then.

Also, take a look at the rear suspension on the car and explain to me how it's an engineering abomination.

Did you actually read it... in LMP2 (initially)

LMP2 Powered by Renault-Nissan coalition, that can't be ideal in terms of politicking etc.

it's LMP2 intially, then the plain is to move to LMP1, as Fish88 quoted.

At least that's what I understood from: "full works LMP1 effort "

and I was not meaning to 2014, I was meaning anytime soon. I would love to see Renault in LMP1 whether its in 2015 or 2016 but it's still wait to see if the story grows

The deal is likely to include Alpine branding replacing the badges of Renault sister marque Nissan on the V8 engine in team's ORECA 03 chassis.

If true and then not even a promise of P1 ambitions: MEH

The Racecar Engineering article is the most wishful from all of these (hate the way Sam Collins writes speculation sometimes like they were facts/set in stone), but even that one doesn't directly claim there is an official P1 plan: "is likely to lead"

Renault news: yes, it is another anti-climax.

Quote:
For its return to Le Mans, Alpine has joined forces with Signatech. The Philippe Sinault-run team will enter an Alpine LM P2 prototype with an Alpine chassis powered by a 500hp Nissan engine for the five rounds of the ELMS, including the opening race at Silverstone, England (April 13). The drivers will be Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues.

http://www.media.renault.com/global/en- ... iaid=45176

In most cheapskate scenario would mean rebranded Oreca chassis.

...Pistonhead says something else, but this could be false:

Quote:
The new chassis will be developed in conjunction with Renault-Alpine partner Caterham, meaning both companies will be able to bring to bear their collective experiences with their own F1 teams and single-marque race series. In other words, the new chassis won't be a toe-in-the-water job; indeed, it has the potential to be a real contender, and both companies will be aiming for this to be a mainstream campaign, rather than an attack on the establishment from the fringes.

Renault and Nissan are the same company. Nissan spent all of last year going LOL WE'RE SO COOL and throwing stickers on anything they could, so I'm not surprised another Renault/Nissan brand is doing the same.

yay for sticker engineering.

That periscope has two front facing cameras - solution to the high fender viewing issues. :D

And not so surprisingly Toyota's end plate thing has been copied.

Awesome. Bruni, Vilander and Koba would be an pretty epic trio.

They should make him Ferrari's 3th driver BTW looking at that picture.

I think Ferrari's F1 and GT operations and driver signings are pretty separate things, but for sure that might create some important contacts.

Good that we'll be able to watch Koba race

, agree with you. Eventhough it's separate, Massa can't perform that badly anymore(as he did many times since his return) or pressure will be even bigger now

On another note, unfortunately, it seems auditv will not provide livestream for Sebring as it's not part of WEC :(

There are some really good driver lineups this year :)

Shame Kamui ended up in a Ferrari, but that's just the Porsche fanboy talking here :p
