Some of that will be also about Audis not going 100% in the qual or race. Was it also ballasted because of running in 2011 spec? In the test they also had the old car as a reference.

Btw, Quattroworld saw the accident:
Quote:
Timo hit the barrier on the entrance of the turn due to some sort of failure, and that caused the car to spin uncontrollably and hit the wall on the outside of 17 backwards at a speed of at least 100mph The impact moved the tire barrier at least 40 feet and sending piles of tires 100+ feet over the out side barrier. About 50 feet from the barrier, the car started to lift slightly, and I believe that if it wasn’t for the new, updated aero “anti lift” fenders which are open on the top, it would have gone airborne (like McNish’s car did at Le Mans).

Surprise.

Lotsa pics in above link:

Are we talking about the same accident? McNish car never went airborne due to aerodynamic forces at Le Mans - it got bounced up by the tyre barrier. Should this exact same situation happen with the updated cars, it'll still happen. Tyre barriers can, and will launch cars given the right circumstances.

These big honking holes should help stop things like Peugeot test day accident in 2008, but it wouldn't have stopped McNishs accident last year.

I was confused by that too. Maybe the writer in fact was thinking about some of the other airborne accidents. Maybe lowers the credibility but it's hard to dispute what he/they saw.

There was a trailer at audiusa.com but it was pulled. I didn't get to see it.

The film should be finalised over the next 8 weeks. Give us a few more weeks and we will come back to you with more information. It has been a LONG process to select the scenes to feature - there was just so much great racing going on. Not surprisingly after that epic race, it will be much more focussed on the 24hrs itself when compared to the first edition.

Quote:
NFL Films wasn't in Le Mans last year. Fortunately for Audi, the filming of big events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans had come a long way since 2008. Audi AG had secured a sizable film team of its own and as a result had hours of event footage. We're told the talented team from NFL dug into this vast archive of footage and has come up with a worthy telling about Red Sonja and the team's exploits last June.

Hopefully no fact bending this time (the tyre choices of 2008) in the name of drama and no Statham.

I've seen the trailer before it was pulled. It was good, but it lacked something. And seeing hat NFL Films is no longer involved might explain that.

Autosports reputation for sportscars and American stuff is sketchy at best too - so it could be completely different. :p

Obviously it's just an image based on couple of "known" things (made by ScarbsF1 btw, he tweeted about it), but the more interesting stuff was in the text imho some of which mulsannescorner.com had already revealed.

Just joined in. Was the race of any interest? Looks pretty close in GT.
