But Audi typically makes available onboards from their cars even with telemetry :o

But assuming they wouldn't be to happy with that, ACO should put tv broadcasting as priority. Imagine following the cars from that perspective during the night time at LM?! 8)

Forgot about the AUDI telemetry stream. But I assume they don't share sensetive stuff over there. Just usual stuff.

Onboard in Le Mans could have awesome potential indeed. And given no aerodynamic disadvantage (like open wheel) they should also experiment with helmet cams IMO.

No, I didn't mean during official sessions. I don't remember ACO using one of these onboards(showing steering wheel) since 2009 or so . What I was talking about is two PR videos from Toyota and Porsche at Paul Ricard.

Oh, forgot those. But those are from testing so it is hard to tell whether it was a even an attempt at a fast lap. A lot depends on this imho. And 5 second clip is too little.

Yeah, TC is non-driving. It should never be allowed in racing, imo.

I agree but in LMP1 it would hard to effectively ban it (remember F1 in 2000s when it was banned but everyone still used it) without a standard ECU (which is probably not viable with so many different kind of engines) and now with electric motors feeding at "worst" both axles, there is another method of basically doing a similar throttle cut off system. :/ Secondly, I bet there wouldn't even be a will to do it because in the end it means more cars finish the case, especially in wet conditions.

That Porsche onboard is pretty awesome. But something says me something like that wouldn't be allowed by the manufactures given the amount of data displayed on all those screens.

I doubt this. The displays they have in the pits aren't huge, so you can't see shit from them anyway and none of the top cars have similar powertrains. Back in 2007-2008 when they did have exactly same kind of engines, Peugeot had no problem with proper cockpit angles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNhpIrzydtk). And lastly somewhere in the supplementary regulations there is an article which says the organizer has a right to install 1 or more cameras in the cars.

Preference for the windscreen angle is probably because for the average joe it is clearer (showing the road ahead) and it is probably simply an easier place to install a camera.

8 years of talking and we've not met yet. A crime.

So Rebellion has been given a big performance break. Thoughts? The state of LMP1 means it is impossible to give an objective valuation of the situation. If Rebellion can push the factory teams, all is good, right? They are not really running the same regs, so go ahead, I guess.

Kind of stupid because their car is far from being sorted. By if by the rules you do the adjustment by the fastest car inside the subclass...

Their car was 10 seconds off pace. Surely a performance break won't give that big of an increase.

Look closely at the left-rear, and you'll see some fasteners. Those held the wheel covers on. They were removed, the wheel covers were removed, and the tires were changed.

thanks. I imagine it was 'closed' for aero efficiency probably.

I think it aided with the ground effects of the Jags, but I'm no aero expert, so who knows. I think Peugeot tried the same trick with the 905s, and Richard Lloyd Racing did the same with the 962 GTis.

Sportscar365 has learned that an announcement from the Italian manufacturer is imminent, and is believed to be scheduled for this Saturday at Circuit de la Sarthe, prior to the start of the 82nd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

:whistling:

There were already earlier rumors of an announcement being made on Saturday, which is not when ACO usually holds their annual press conference. If that's true, then it has to be pretty big announcement.
