91 looped it at the exit of Mulsanne but got going again. Sounded epic as he spun it back round. |

They were saying on Radio Le Mans last night that every category's pole time was a lap record. With the forecast being a good as it is, we may well see 400 laps completed this year. |

SB83 wrote: deggis wrote: the ost wrote: Just a perfect lap. Minus lifting just before the finish line Probably audio delay. No delay elsewhere. Most likely explanation is that he got so close to the fuel flow limit that he had to lift off or lap would have been DQ'd. |

2020 LMP1 regs outlined: http://www.dailysportscar.com/2017/06/1 ... lined.html tl;dr: more cost reductions, development restrictions and one amazingly retarded gimmick idea: after each lap cars needs to drive 1 km on EV power and finish the race on EV power. That sounds fucking stupid but there are bigger problems. I won't be surprised if the P1-H as we know it now is canned before these regs even come into effect. No new manufacturers are known to be eyeing P1-H besides Peugeot, one of the current ones might be leaving and this is because of the costs. These sort of nominal cost and development reductions might not be enough, just drive teams to find smaller margins, like in F1, and just like recently proven like in F1 hamper in-season catch up. It is sad but I think there just needs to be a move back to a more primitive level of technology or the class is always a one pullout away from a collapse. And the one that might pondering about leaving is Porsche. One such suggestion was by the same one who predicted Audi's widhdrawal. It is because of the costs and they need a new car, since current design goes back to 2014 and now the monocoques are frozen until 2019, but designing a new one just for two seasons isn't cheap either. So the timing would be right. http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/moto ... 58709.html (translation here: https://www.reddit.com/r/wec/comments/6 ... n/divy776/) http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/pors ... it-rumors/ |

Seems to me like the Prototype rules in IMSA are pretty decent and reasonably cost efficient. I know they're basically P2 rules with an open engine and manufacturer bodywork but if the manufacturers are only really looking for a place to showcase the brand and not necessarily the technology then the complicated rules of P1-H are not really necessary are they? |

http://www.dailysportscar.com/2017/06/1 ... tions.html At least Andreas Seidl (Porsche) sounds optimistic. |
