Politics and money saw the end of Lime Rock. Could easily have hosted one of the split field events but instead we get those disgraceful "tracks" at Detroit and Kansas instead.

How many manufacturer headquarters are there in Lime Rock... It is obvious Detroit is not on the schedule because of the track configuration alone. Altough you did say politics and money... :p

Kansas? Are they really racing there again?

Also, it was missing from the race schedule in the first post. Updated.

Results from the last session:

ESM closes the gap and is only 0.6 seconds behind.

Mazda improves slightly but they're still 9 seconds off the pace.

I wonder what speeds the DeltaWing is doing down the straights compared to DP's...

In all six sessions so far that new Mazda prototype has been hideously off the pace. The Lola is a pretty tried and tested chassis so on the face of it it seems the Skyactiv engine is still awful. Second Daytona 24 hour total humiliation in a row for the Mazda factory-supported effort?

Also, the Conti Tire Series cars have been on track too. Looking like a smaller field this year but there were a couple of interesting cars out:

Subaru WRX-STi

Yea, that was disclosed late last year itself. Good article about it, from back then.

Thank you for that article. It was a great read. It's a shame Lime Rock won't be on the schedule. What a beautiful place that is. No grandstands make the experience so worth while. Complete freedom to roam around. I work 10-15 mins from it and always enjoy seeing all the cars and transporters roll through when there's a race. Hopefully they will have a race in 2015.

Expect it to be back in 2015.

I'm using it's absence this year to go out to the 6hr at the Glen.

Daytona 24 hours will be live on MotorsTV again  Don't know if they'll show the full season, but I think it's very likely.

Per USC's twitter, Marco Seefried and Johannes van Overbeek have had incidents of some kind today.

If I remember right the WRX was pretty competitive in 2012?

NJMP in 2012 if I recall. Really pleased to see that car back out, the AWD added some interesting variety.

As a Subaru owner I'm glad to see it back.

And speaking of AWD, I'll never forget this:

I remember that, so sick.

Now we need an Evo out there to compete with the Subie.

The DeltaWing on an oval. This is what Indycar could have become. :flag:

Looks pretty badass there tbh.

The little teaser they show on MotorsTV combining GA and ALMS footage makes me excited (although I won't be able to see Daytona)

:( ALMS' tv deal sucked, but as a consequence for us on-US viewers it was great...
