Yes, definitely worth it to do that when no one would see it.

A subject of the trip to France is certainly the ACO/ALMS contract, which expires after Petit Le Mans this year - less than a month away.

If they're going to call it "Unlimited," they better be prepared to deliver a modern-day Can-Am... Not that that would make any sense in the current economic climate.

Hmm...maybe it's just a name change to what's going to be basically the same championship. Maybe ACO wants the "Le Mans" name to be exclusively associated with WEC. If this is the case, LMS would have to change name as well. But too many "ifs". Would suck to see ALMS disappear.

That would be odd considering ACO has branded everything with "Le Mans", ILMC, the failed Asian series, LMPCs... I'm afraid they want to cater towards the Delta Wings and other crap but distancing further from the ACO rules might help since ALMS will no longer be the main stage for LMPs.

I don't think "Le Mans" in the name has been all that beneficial. It creates the connection but they're foreign words and it's like "Formula Monaco Series", it is confusing.

I've always maintained that the GTE-Am class is incorrectly named because no true amatuers compete at Le Mans. It's kinda like the Olmypics in that they are not true amateurs and are listed as that because of technicalities. However, watching from trackside, I take back my comments. The Krohn Ferrari was so pathetic during the Silverstone ILMC race that had it been an iRacing mixed class race, the drivers would have been abused on the forum. The car continually was in the way and making stupid moves, causing many offs. He hit a Peugeot at Becketts half a lap before he hit the Audi at the complex, he forced the Aston Lola off the track on hanger straight. The bottleneck which eventually led to the #1 Audi losing part of the rear bodywork was caused by the Krohn Ferrari blocking an LMP through the complex. Literally 2 or 3 times every lap, that car was causing issues.

Sometimes the LMPs and GTs have a miscommunication and something bad happens (see: Allans attempt on the Ferrari, which wasn't going to work), however every lap really isn't acceptable.

They also fucked up the formation lap, both times. During the first start, the Krohn Ferrari was 10 seconds behind the car in front, holding up the rest of the GT cars. Then they did the second start...and he was 15 seconds back. How do you lose ground that much on a formation lap?

The spins at turn 1 from the Audi and Ferrari probably had something to do with the Formula 3 car that blew up on the S/F straight during the support race.

So Highcroft and DeltaWing recently released some details about how the project was going. They said they were going to produce 3 chassis, including a showcar and wind tunnel model. They released this photo -

Image

It doesn't take an expert to notice that the tub in the middle there isn't a DeltaWing, in fact it isn't even there own car. It's a LMP chassis that they've bought and stipped down. The cyan line is the sidepod mount, the purple is for the suspension and the green is the steering rack.

So the question becomes, which chassis is it? An HPD which Acura had? An old Zytek, or even Lola? No. It's an AMR-One. I shit you not. The roll blades and cockpit shape are the same, and the way the bodywork fits onto the chassis is exactly the same. For example, look at the bodywork join above the 007 box on this photo (linked due to size) and look at the shape of the cut out on the front of that chassis.

DeltaWing have taken the worst chassis of the current LMPs, and are attempting to build their new car from it. I'm lost for words.

Haha. There must be some kind of explanation for that. Maybe some kind of agreement with Prodrive to help each other with chassis development? Maybe Prodrive was giving away stuff for free? Maybe they found it in a trash bin?

Smart move by Aston though, sell the piece of shit to idiots.

All the more reason not to worry about it getting anywhere then.
