Actually, there might be more to that Lamy-case which could end up to be very surprising! Seems that 'blocking' was not the whole reason, sorry to be vague over here, just keep your eyes open the next weeks/months (can't say more, because if it ends up being totally different I'm fucked)

Either way he needed to go because he's terrible. He's been a consistent disappointment this year, at Sebring with the spin and being way off the pace, the practice and race accidents at Spa, and then being way off at Le Mans.

Without sounding too much like the so-called info Truls1 had back in the days, it has something to do with him signing somewhere else.

Well, if thats the rumour then I already knew about it. Lamy is on the entry list for San Marino in a BMW. He replaces Andy Priaulx because of surgery.

mmh, I initially thought of another german manufacturer, but that really would have been a massive bombshell :p

There was no chance he'd be signing for Audi. :P

If he did indeed refuse to block the Audi, then I have massive amounts of respect for him. It also makes the incidents with Gene and Davidson even more obvious.

Lamy's had connections for years with BMW though, well pre-dating his employment by Peugeot. Nothing really new there.

Just found out about this story with Lamy being ordered to block the Audis, if that is the case then it is rather silly.

Porsche returning to LMP1 with a full works program. I imagine that'll be Joest, just with a different brand. Petrol Hybrid?

First planned outing for the car is 2014. I suspect you're right, probably to allow the R18 to complete its development cycle and then pull the plug on Audi. Would certainly appear the petrol hybrid is the way to go for them...

Also, Stijn. ;) ;) ;)

I'm really looking forward to this

I'm assuming the date of 2014 being the same as the newly-changed year the new F1 engines are being introduced isn't a coincidence. It's slotting into place for Audi in F1

I think "2014" might more important in relation to the LMP regulation revamp (energy/fuel limit formula).

Interestingly, according to Newey's comment, Audi backed out even before the recent row over the engine rules started: http://en.espnf1.com/fia/motorsport/story/52832.html

Also, previously Mueller from Porsche said there is no problem with Audi vs. Porsche: http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/38588.html

But I also expect Audi to move away. I'd rather have Porsche than Audi: a) for change b) probability that they will not use diesel c) it's Porsche.

Quote:
An update from Audi Sport, Porsche's sister brand, in a statement said this decision was a purely Porsche one:

“This is the decision of Porsche company, a decision in which Audi is not involved. Audi relishes the prospect of every strong new opponent at Le Mans and in the new FIA Sportscar World Championship. Porsche’s entry into the LMP1 class is evidence of the high level of attraction of sport prototypes”.

Brilliant! I am really looking forward to the marque making a return.

So we will have Audi, Peugeot, Toyota, Aston Martin (if they iron out the problems) and now, Porsche!

Hang on, so Audi is not going to hang around for long then?

Check the links in my two previous posts. They're part of the same group so everyone just expects Audi to move away. It's a possibility.

Weirder things have happened. Like Citroen vs. Peugeot in WRC.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them stay, FWIW. Audi and Porsche are now both iconic marques at Le Mans and it's difficult to imagine that them not continuing to invest at Le Mans wouldn't have a significant impact on their sales and overall market presence.

Besides, Audi and Porsche are pushing pretty seriously different technology - Porsche has a major opportunity to really push their hybrid technology, while Audi can continue pushing the diesel stuff.

F1 to V6 in 2014. Porsche to Le Mans in 2014. Audi leaves for F1 in 2014?

If the ALMS can make it to 2014, with Porsche(Penske), and possible Nissan and Toyota P1 projects, Maybe we could see a rebirth?
