Yea, and it will take Highcroft with it.

Looking at this joke, I can't fathom where front suspension etc will live. The car is as wide as 2 tires at the front. Or are they making it a 3 wheeler just to complete the lulz?

Can't be 3 wheels, otherwise it's not mounted to anything, or it's mounted in the middle of the wheel or something. It has to be 4 wheels, with 2 thin wheels at the front.

They are claiming the car will be just as fast as regular cars.

I can't believe you are all so negative about the DeltaWing. You should compliment them for doing something different. Isn't that what motorsport is all about? I hear you all complaining about the F1 cars being too similar. Or the IndyCar Series being a spec series. And now here's a new idea, a new concept, and I all I hear is once again complaints.

And isn't it the team's job the make it work. It's a challenge for them and I'm sure they will make it work. And yeah, I suppose they do know that Le Mans is not a straight road.

There are two great teams working with them. It's a great oppertunity for Highcroft to get back on top. Obviously for a variety of reasons the DeltaWing will have a lot of exposure. ACO should also get props for working with them and putting something experimental on track.

Last but not least I think they will look at the safety factor. Drivers are not gonna step in unless they know it's safe. But isn't also that dating back to the days of the experimental days, like Lotus and Chapman.

I have a feeling it's all going to end badly.

I could make a 5 wheel Le Mans entry powered by sunshine and unicorns, however 'being different' won't cut it when the car fails miserably.

If the Audi yesterday would have been a DeltaWing, all I can say is "poor Aston".

This was another idea that was a bit weird:

From my (never updated again) website:

Sixwheeler Le Mans Racing car

Source: AUTOhebdo n°76, August 18th, 1977

While Tyrrell announced to give up it's sixwheeler idea, Frenchman Jean Rondeau still believed in the concept and was planning to enter a sixwheeler for the famous 24hour race in 1979! The project was pretty advanced, the article had a whole 'fiche technique' with details like engine, wheelbase, etc.

Unfortunately, a few weeks later, the FIA announced new regulations for F2, F3 and Gr. 6 racing cars (from which this car would have been part of), that from 1.1.79 onwards, these cars cannot have more than 4 wheels... (For F1, it was forbidden somewhere in 1982, after the very successful tests of the Sixwheeler Williams car)

Rondeau, who invested allready a lot of money in this project, had to stop his dream of entering a sixwheeler for the Le Mans race... but continued with 'fourwheelers' and eventually won this race!

The people at Auto Hebdo where also dissappointed, and they even asked their readers to send letters to the FIA headquarters to ask to revise these new regulations..

Really a pity I think....

Good thing rFactor lets you just put whatever physics numbers you want to into the engine, otherwise they wouldn't be able to use this video to sell the concept to investors.

Fucknuggets thats hideous. What's really upsetting about this is that both AAR and Highcroft have been suckered in by this. I thought they had more nous than that. They are aware Le Mans is not a straight road with gentle curves, yes?

Yeaa I thought those two teams had more sense then this.

That thing is going to bottom out on the tramlines on the Hunaudieres and the run down to Indianapolis. Mark my words.

Some details of WEC:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/92082

"Two races in America", since some had been speculating about PLM, but this other race might be one in South America...

edit: Better English.
