Might do, haven't done it in a while. I'll be at Mulsanne corner during one qually. Love the straight to Indy in the dark.

Why the long straight is called the 'Mulsanne Straight'? Is it only named after the corner at the end of the straight.

Shouldn't it be called the Hunaudieres Straight?

Mulsanne is waaay easier to pronounce.

Got no other theory on it.

Mulsanne Straight is actually the one up all the way to Indianapolis, isn't it? That's how I always call them anyway: Les Hunaudieres followed by the Mulsanne Straight

I think people get confused because of the Mulsanne Kink just before the crest. The Mulsanne Kink and Mulsanne straight are two different places.

(atleast I think that's right, there's probably someone else who knows more than me and can tell you why I'm wrong :p)

Basically right but that would get many people confused? :p Wikipedia: As the Hunaudières leads to the village of Mulsanne, it is often called the Mulsanne Straight in English, even though the proper Route du Mulsanne is the one to Arnage.

Let's just call everything between Tertre Rouge and Indianapolis "Mulsanne"

Haha, I have always been so annoyed when people say that Dumbreck flipped "on the Mulsanne straight", and I would be all like "no, he didn't, he flipped on the straight to Indianapolis". Woops!

I guess I'll go and hide now. :flag:

The reason I referred to it as the Mulsanne straight: All English-speaking people I know seem to refer to it by that name, and I didn't want to sound like a posh twat to mr. Ellis by using Hunaudières :p

I guess we all learned something today!

Edit: Odd, because when it comes to the Nürburgring I'm (silently) strict when it comes to the good old mixup between Quiddelbacher Höhe and Flugplatz.

In France. One of our cars is leaking water already. Good start. Many many miles to go.

Hunaudières is a given name to a location inside the city of Ruaudin, and that city is located near the straight.
Mulsanne is a village located just next to the Mulsanne corner.

I find it silly to name a straight after a place located at the exact opposite of where it actually starts! "Ligne droite des Hunaudières" is also the official name (used by the mail service for example) for the straight, until the first chicane, roughly (after that it is "Route de Tours").

It's easy to get confused, especially when most track maps (like the one on wikipedia's page for the track) refer to the straight as Mulsanne straight.

Regarding the weather, it should be rather chilly and rain is a strong possibility. Weather's been crazy all over the country lately, so expect anything.
