Dumbreck's accident in 1999 happened at 8.40pm and then Mercedes finally withdrew the sister car sometime before 9.30pm. So it might take a while for Audi to make a decision if they would consider withdrawing from the race.

But I would say keep racing.

I don't think you'll like his response.

This isn't 1955, where 100 people are dead. This isn't 1999, where the car has a design flaw that could kill you. Both of those accidents today were racing accidents. All that Lotterer and his team-mates have to do is to remain circumspect.

This.

I'm pretty certain Fangio didn't want to quit after the crash at Le Mans in 1955, either.

I don't say they should quit. But if they do I would respect their decision.

But I hope they will continue and make it a close race until the end.

How can this possibly be compared to 1955?

The McNish crash made it at the end of BBC news just now. Rocky's crash got a mere mention, but I guess they've got a tight timeframe to squeeze things into.

Audi should not quit, and I don't believe they will.

Rocky's crash was absolutely horrifying. Did anyone notice not only did he take out the armco, he demolished the catch fence too. Hope he's A OK because there wasn't much of anything left of that car. Terrible day for Audi. Would be all too awesome if they could win this race.

Now, as for this amateur horseshit. The ACO have to pull their heads out of their asses and only allow proper racing drivers to run. Le Sarthe is far too fast for some dingbat club racer who barely has an SCCA license to race. Actually, some guys at the Run Offs are better. I understand that even the best make mistakes, see Alan's crash from earlier today. I also understand that certainly not all the amateur guys are bad, and many of them I'm sure are quite decent. However, with that said, it only takes one time for a mistake to turn into a tragedy. I don't want a knee jerk reaction, but I really don't think that one of the big 3 races in the world is the place for amateurs to compete. It's the place for the world's best to showcase their talents on one of the last true tracks to test the bravery of the driver.

I hope we're done with the armco repair for this 24Hours.

Love to see whats left of the #1, but unless some sneaky photographers do at the crash site, I guess we never will.

I was saying that Fangio didn't want to quit. Lotterer might not want to quit either, but it's up to the team whether they quit or not.

Or even to 1999.

Dr Ullrich: "He moved out of the car on his own, we talked to him, and they have taken him to the hospital."

That is official enough.

Michael Waltrip just told Speed that he "doesn't think that the Prototype made contact with the Ferrari."

Also doesnt know what happened.

I think the more interesting thing from that interview was that they haven't talked to Rob on the radio in all this time.
EDIT: It does look like they may not have made contact but that doesn't absolve Rob if blame.

Michael Waltrip saying something slightly inteligent, and then saying something idiotic... Rocky's crash was clearly the fault of the GT, how in the hell can you not see that? The dumbass turned a full car length across the track.

They really might not have hit.

I think if the Audi hit the Ferrari at that speed the Ferrari would have been pitched into the fence as well.

I don't think they tangled, the Ferrari just pushed the Audi into the dirt. Maybe they did touch though. Maybe lightly.
