Sidenote.

I've just done some laps in iRacing in this car, and braking for turn 5 is a bitch :p

It's okay, if you miss your braking point you can still climb onto a spun car to stop

The kind of stuff that could only happen in 90's CART. Also, this race:

Any reason why Felix Rosenqvist isn't on the Lights entry list?

Nasty wreck that was, one of many in the mid 90's to early 2000's before they finally sorted out the barriers and other hazards.

There have been a fair few big wrecks over the years.

And of course, Katherine Legge, and also the river across the track in 2001...

Such a good circuit. So glad we're back.

That Carpentier crash is the sexiest open-wheel crash ever IMO. My all-time favourite.

Then there's this crash from 1992 with Paul Tracy.

That PT crash is so cool to watch. It just seems never-ending. He hits everything in sight, bounces in the air a bunch, dirt and dust flying.

It's interesting how this track makes some crazy races. I can expect good racing from the layout, but there's always a higher level of atrition here. It could be due to high braking points and straights that aren't so straight.

Newgarden has been cleared to drive tomorrow then they'll re-evaluate him to see if he's fit enough to drive the rest of the weekend.
