Thanks

And honestly, speed records don't really matter if racing is good. At those speeds it's not like you will notice the difference between 237 and 227.

That's actually very cool. Also, gives you an idea how much it affects the car once you take skid plate into consideration.

Edit: finished my beer and remembered something. I really like Hinch, but I remember a few months ago, he was very vocal against the skids, and the handling issues the raised ride height caused, and mentioning the fact they were creating a new issue for one that wasn't there in the first place. Why the sudden change of heart? Damn politics, probably...

Maybe he just didn't know what they looked like back then, plus now he already drove the car.

There's also a cool video on the indycar Youtube channel where they show the wind tunnel testing as well

I seem to remember those remarks by Hinch were made after he tested the domed skids at Fontana, maybe I'm wrong, I'm too lazy to search for them, now but they should be on racer. Oh well, maybe they managed to tweak the cars since then, haven't heard anything about that. From what we've seen yesterday in practice they seemed to be able to follow one another quite well, but that was only day one though...

Youre most certainly right, he had tested them at Fontana, my bad. This is the article that was posted back then:

Those were some harsh words at the time :o

I just found out I can take a cooler of beer in on race day. This changes everything.

I can't remember how many I brought in on race day last year, but they were many. Try to found these!

79mph is hauling the mail for a tow truck...

We must always remember... The teams are smarter than the sanctioning body. The dome skids created handling issues and the teams sorted it out. Speeds were quick on Monday. Pole speed at 230mph is possible.
