How'd they work that one out? Monty gained 18 extra points relative to Dixon at Indy and Dixon gained 22 extra relative to Juan today. Meaning if you take them away Monty has a net gain of +4.

With regards to double points, I've no problem with it for Indy (Or other 500 mile races) because its over double the length of other races as well as been the biggest race of the season.

Having double points for the final is nothing but an artificial way of trying to spice up the championship battle by trying to keep it alive to the end. There was/is no reason for it & all it does is leave a bad taste in people's mouths when it really mixes the title race up like it has today.

Hopefully its something they look at dropping for next year.

I agree double points in the last race is dumb (as is any kind of playoff/chase feature in motorsport).
But Dixon won the most races.

So? This isn't NASCAR (much as Mark Miles wants it to be).

So out of the two drivers with the same amount of points, they gave it to the driver who had won the most races.
Would you have complained if Montoya had won more races?

16 exhibition races and only one counting points, way to go

only if they finish the season with the indy 500

I don't mind it as a tiebreaker, but if IndyCar was using a sensible points system they wouldn't have been tied anyway.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Anyway, it sounds like there might be a lot of 9.3.8 violations to be examined.

Let a wheel of fortune decide at the end of each race which position deserves full points.

If IndyCar wants to recover its respect after this double points polemics, they should do a season finale at Laguna Seca in two weeks.....that would've been awsome.

Here, on Facebook or in the Indycar paddock?

I'd happily keep them working until Christmas on that front. But on Indycar personnel alone, you've had Montoya criticising the points system, Power calling it a casino, Rahal allegedly calling Bourdais something he possibly shouldn't have done, and there'll probably be more in the coming days as well.

Eh, Montoya paid the price for driving so conservatively in the second half of the year. Dixon had more wins and poles, with only 1 less podium. While Montoya would still clinch with standard points for all 2015 races by a small margin (I understand the butthurt in that sense), he did rely on attrition here at Sonoma and at Pocono. 1 podium in the second half of the season? I don't really think of that as championship form.

If he had said "thanks Indycar for double points at Indy 500 2015 and Pocono 500 2014" that would be more accurate.

Anyway since Indycar will have a new competition director (don't let the door hit you on the way out Mr Walker) the points will probably revert to standard for 2016.

Just read that Montoya didnt win the title. Its a shame, he led the championship all year and now he goes home 2nd.
Im dissapointed that he didnt win it.

I don't have objective criticism to bring in, and I didn't even follow the whole season thoroughly. I hate Dixon, and I like Montya, and that's about it.

Dixon is an amazing driver, and it is not his fault that there were double points. But I do wonder what he could have done in F1. He would fit right in.

To be honest I never really noticed Scott Dixon as I am just a casual viewer of Indycar for a little while and I don't really see him winning a lot of races. But as he is a four time champion then he is rewarding himself with consistency.
