Seeing him with his two young kids and his wife makes it hit that little bit harder too, really appeared to be a genuinely good person too. Very sad.

Unbelievably sad, to see that happen to such a respected driver.
It's been a brutal couple of years in Racing.

I knew it looked bad, when his car stopped, memories of Wheldon and Bianchi immediately came to mind, unfortunately there was nothing to do after that.

As a tribute, I've put together a few photos I took while attending ChampCar and Indycar races, along with some I collected and scanned from books and goodies I had...

RIP Justin :flag:

Just reading some comments on lequipe.fr, famous french sport website and absolutely not specialist of american sports (motorsports and ball sports).
Some dudes are already blaming Karam for Wilson's death. "

People are dumb.

Dutch newssite Nu.nl headed that J. Verstappen and Wilson drove for Zanardi in 2003.
I expect commenters to be dumb as fuck but actual news writers....

Such sad news, RIP Justin

More geared for F1 but relevant here given the circumstances is that the FIA will be testing a new design for closed cockpits next months, Rather than a canopy they are going for something like this:

Of course, it's more important to get out a story and make it as sensational as possible than to worry about things like, you know, accuracy.

Terrible. Just feel terrible. My wife and I along with my Mom & Dad were at the race Sunday. I called my Mom last night when I heard the news. She had not heard yet. I was surprised at how hard she took it. Being there when a driver is lost adds a little extra sting to the cauldron of shit that surrounds these events. Not the first time I've been at the track when this has happened I'm sad to say.

RIP Justin. You drove a helluva last race. :flag:

Rest in peace Justin :(

Allentown, Penn.
24 August 2015

With deep sadness, the parents of Justin Wilson, Keith and Lynne, his wife Julia, and his brother Stefan share the news that Justin passed away today after succumbing to injuries suffered during the Verizon IndyCar event at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, August 23.

Justin was a loving father and devoted husband, as well as a highly competitive racing driver who was respected by his peers.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital, Pocono Raceway, Andretti Autosport, and the Verizon IndyCar Series as well as the entire racing community for the amazing outpouring of support from fans around the world.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wilson Children’s Fund care of INDYCAR.
