Thinking about it, that probably is true. You can burn off a lot of rubber doing doughnuts and they run the cars as light as possible.

When did donuts become compulsory celebration for winning a race anyway? Everyone started doing them in NASCAR about 15 years ago and somehow they've become cool everywhere. I always thought the victory lap and just being legitimately excited was classy, donuts have always seemed kind of bogan.

When Zanardi started the tradition, he became heavily fined, which was funny.
