Racing at Cleveland in 1996. This would be the last win for Hall-VDS Racing, as that team closed up shop at the end of the season.

Hall Racing the team carried on in 1997-1998 as Davis Racing with very poor results, especially in 1998 with poor old Arnd Meier.

Rewatching now 2001 Indy, I only remembered the Gidley crash, and loss memories of the rest, particularly the disapointment of a track getting dry after the wet expectation. Didn't remember the river or any other thing about it.

That was Bobby Unser's last Indycar race BTW. One of the greatest ever.

I thought he retired after the 1981 Indy 500? Or was Phoenix after that race.

That was the season finale. Remember the kerfuffle after that years Indy 500 - Bobby didn't get the win until just a few weeks before the Phoenix race. It didn't sound like from the broadcast that he had not announced his retirement by then. If he hadn't won the '81 500 I think he would have continued for another year. He was still very much one of the best drivers in the field.
