Yellow flag with 3 minutes left in practice. Justin Wilson could have a blown engine

So, potentially three Honda engine failures on day 2? That's a bit alarming.

Creeping right on up to that 230 even without boost. 235 or 236 for the pole. 238 next year for the record. It's not like they want the whole field to break it. Just a car or two.

I think we will hit the record speeds on Fast Friday or in the Saturday morning practice unofficially as draft laps. However I wouldn't be shocked though if they hit a 234 or a 235 in single car runs during qualifying days.

Let's speculate the thing no one wants to consider: it will be .....interesting to see what happens when one of these new aero kits spins at higher speeds than we've been used to for a while

Let's just hope they've really worked out the aero when it comes to a spinning situation as we've seen enough cars In the air at the speedway.
I'm not expecting the same problems again but every new frontier brings with it their own teething problems soooo.....a new set of problems I guess.

But then saying that we could just have a whole month of the only crashes being right sides being wiped off along a safer barrier and the new aero is more stable at the rear leading to no high speed spins at all...here's hoping :)

In theory every car can go airborne, given the right circumstances. Stop over thinking things and being a doom-monger.

Good point, really, really curious as to how will this unfold. Bad feeling now, but just a feeling. I just hope it doesnt get bad. And that they remove all this great new exciting speed and aero-fight.

The Lolas and Reynards were faster than the old Dallaras, yet they never seemed to take off quite as much. (At least, they didn't catch air on a simple *spin* as bad). So I don't think it's necessarily a pure speed issue, there's some design factors as well.

I think I've read there's been some chassis modifications to help prevent catching air (basically making the bottom a bit less flat so less prone to acting like a wing).

First time I've had a chance to watch this week.

The cars look VERY stable.

Jesus. That car started lifting off the ground the very instant it got backward. That's worrying. 8O
