Karam's confidence right now is at 0. Too bad, considering how good he was in this race a year ago. I don't think he was to blame there, it was all Sato. You could see that coming from a long way back.

If Karam knew that Sato was fully alongside, I might agree. But I don't think that was the case. He was probably focused on his line and getting through 1 & 2 without any issue with RHR to his left. Ultimately Sato made the situation dicey by being the last man in to make it three-wide. If it were in the closing stages and he's trying to make up ground, so be it. Indy 500, go for glory. But L1 T1? Fuck no. Bad idea.

Yeah, I can't defend Sato in that instance. Can't win a race on lap one, turn one, but you can sure lose a race there.

Wow, 20th running live. I'm actually jealous for that, as I wish I could get there one day. I've speaking to my dad for like five years already that we should go there, rather than for some random F1 race instead. But like most of the F1 fans, he thinks that Indy is just a boring race, running around a circle.

This was my dad's 52nd since 1960 (missed 62, 65, 74 and 78) and a couple of guys who have gone in the past are starting their own ticket orders.

Once you go in person, chances are you'll want to go back.

I attended Tonys win in 2013 and I consider going back to the 100th. Even though a flight to Indy or Chicago would cost me some thousand dollarz.

Its just such a great even with all the spectacle and ceremonies building up to the start in a simply perfect way.
Any casually in motorsports interested person who doesnt get goosebumps from the small toe to the top of his head when the 11 rows of 3 turn onto the main straight must be dead.

I can imagine, it's such a great event, and full of energy and long enough to get into your brain and never leave again. Like a drug addiction.

What's traffic like getting to the track on race morning for the 500? For the F1 race in 2007, it was nasty. The GPS era hadn't really hit yet, and had to rely on Mapquest directions that were useless due to the fact that the cops wouldn't let you travel in the direction the Mapquest directions wanted you to go. Luckily, I had a parking pass for the lot just outside of turns 1 & 2 of the oval, or I would have probably missed the start. Leaving IMS was not bad at all, just got in the car and went.

I think they have buses from the city to the track, but the other way found, forget it.

Thinking seriously of going to 100th running next year. It's the only chance we're ever going to get to see the 100th running of the Indy 500, so why not?

It was my dream to visit the Indy 500 one time in my life, I ended up going 3 times already in the past 5 years (2010, 2012 and 2014) :D It's so addictive, no other motorsport event comes close to it. Also thinking about going to the 100th running next year. Last time I took a bus service from the airport on raceday, that was excellent to get to the track without traffic jams. Also after the race we were out of there in no time.

If I lived on the same continent as Indianapolis, I would be there every year for the race.

Our hotel was on the east side of the city, took a cab, cost us 45 dollars and the trip took less than 20 minutes right across town. Don't take your own car if you live in the city.

I looked up the prices for last year's running, compared them to the British and Belgian GPs, and kinda cried myself to sleep :(

In 2013 we got up at 4, arrived at the track at 6 and witnessed the sun rising at the empty speedway. It was mindblowing.
No bed traffic yet though. stood in line baybe 20 minutes.

First beer cracked hat 7:30 btw...

Really want to go to the 100th running but won't be sure if I would be able to yet.

I think tickets are already up for sale. Had a ticket for penthouse at A, incredible view. Best things I've ever witnessed. Hoosier 100, Little 500 are all events one must attend. The Little 500 really is the strangest and most fun things I've seen in a long while, all the pit crews calling in trucks .

Ugh, want to be there next year :(
