That, and he accomplished even less than Luiz Razia did in 2014, despite being in the best funded team. Razia at least managed to win on a road course...I'll give Chilton some credit for taking pole position for both Laguna Seca races. Problem is he screwed that up with a pair of unforced errors.

Sean Rayhall was on such a low budget that he had to wrench his own car, and still got 2 wins from 9 starts. The guy's versatile, wins in anything you put him in - LMPCs, stock cars, Indy Lights etc. Still only 20 years old. Carlin should give him a call sometime, if he's wanting to win the title next year.

update on the 2016 schedule.

Mexico City looking more possible for a mid-February date
Phoenix still isn't a done deal but looking closer
Milwaukee is still a unknown with the promoter situation that is ongoing
Pocono might not happen, attendance didn't please the track owners again
Gateway wants a date (but I think it depends on sanctioning fee, much like the rumors last year)
Richmond, Kentucky and Michigan are possible to fill the void if there is any more ovals lost (can we just go to Richmond and Michigan anyway?)

Phoenix seems to be much closer to a deal. It already has a provisional date\time and race length.

Yes but that would require Indycar management to employ a modicum of common sense.

You must be thinking this is post-IPO CART where money can be thrown around like confetti (that didn't work out too well did it?)

Neither Indycar nor Gateway are charities. They both need to turn a profit from a race weekend. The devil is in the details as they say - sanctioning fee, date\time (it will probably need to be on the Truck weekend which isn't announced for 2016 yet), sponsors etc.

This also isn't Nascar where 75% of the circuits are owned by the series.

What was that about common sense?

You must be thinking I was being completely serious and not at all tongue in cheek when responding to a member I've known for a long time and have a great rapport with.

Neither myself nor Ian-S believe this is a perfect world where everything we want as Motorsport fans can or will be achieved. You seem to be confusing me (and thus a couple of other members) with people who have little to no knowledge of Indycar and how their management organisation have run the sport, or need to keep it alive, etc.

This also isn't a forum where condescension and a patronizing tone won't be met with the same in return.

What was that about common sense?

They would have to move the Truck race to pair it with IndyCar too. The current weekend slot is the 1 off week teams have after running for 5 to 10 weeks straight between races at Long Beach/Barber/Indy GP/Indy 500/Doubleheader at Belle Isle/Texas and practice or testing for the 500 or aero kits. There is also a certain 24 Hour race that weekend too.
