so based on those links and numbers, if power starts ryan is out. simon would have to win and have power finish 21st or last (Power 21st would make it simon's by ONE point). making only helio with a legit shot at its quite possible but helio would have to win and power 8th or worse (and again the 8th by power would give it to helio by one point). i think i got that right haha please correct me if im wrong.

wait i forgot about laps lead and pole points. this is too complicated

Basically, if Power finishes 6th, it won't matter what Castroneves does. If he finishes 18th, it won't matter what Pagenaud does.

- 2008, Castro Neves
- 2009, Briscoe
- 2010, Power
- 2011*
- 2012, Power
- 2013, Castro Neves

*Not included due to the circumstances at that race

2012 and 2013 are the ones where I attended. Both times, Team Penske choked. Since I won't be going to Fontana this time...Penske driver wins?

As nice as it would to see Pag winning, I just can't see both Penske's choking.

Can you imagine if Power and Castro Neves tangle, and it allows Pagenaud to take the title? Oh boy! That's a whole new level of choking.

None of the drivers are what I'd consider champion material, at least during this year anyway.

I'm rooting for Pagenaud, I like an upset. But Power deserves the title, if he doesn't win it this year, he'll never win a title.

Power won there last year, so he will really look like a fool if he loses it this year.

I mean really.. look at the points structure. The lowest Power is going to leave with if he wrecks turn 1 lap 1 is 642. Helio has to be 4th with full bonus points or 3rd or better and Pagenaud has to win. The real pressure is on them, but I wouldn't really even call it much of a "battle" at all. ...and we all know that Will Power never crashes on big ovals. Neither has Helio ever won a race at a super speedway, right?

Helio won at Michigan in 2006 and then you know, three times at Indianapolis.
