I was trying to see if the monitors were on, but they had already been unplugged.

Great race from the IndyCars :) Iowa never fails to deliver excitement.

Adding that extra 50 laps onto the race was a great call.

Just caught up with the race.

AAAARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Ed "I'm only here for the oval races but I have no idea how to race ovals" Carpenter tbh

No penalty for Ed? Tony on the phone was he?

I'd argue what Ed did was worse than either of the Houston blocks that got penalties and about the same as Power's block at Pocono which got a penalty.
No wonder they need the ugly wheel guards on these things, there would've been about 5 airbourne crashes at least the way they've been chopping each other.

You just DO NOT block on an oval. Not in open wheel anyway. Just asking to put someone in the fence.
(Ironically without the wheel covers it probably would've ended with Special Ed on his head, maybe removing them will teach them to treat each other with a little respect when racing side by side? )

Aside from that, good race. Great call from RHR at the end there, reminded me of an old school late race NASCAR restart when I started watching it 10/15 years ago. Tyres vs track position...oh shit we should've got tyres....boom

Next week: best tast race!

JPM used the "Buschbag" slur towards all drivers who block on his TV interview. :D

That's the reason the drivers do this blocking now, because they know there's very little chance of the cars getting airborne from any potential contact due to the guards and recessed wheels.

They'll carry on until someone does get killed, then whine about poor car design.

I thought the crowd looked quite good. Surely not worse than in previous years? http://racer.com/more/viewpoints/item/1 ... ovals-work

Anyway, that was a great race, almost a shame that new tyres was such an advantage at the end, but at least the winner DROVE his butt off to get to victory lane, rather than leap-frogging due to a lucky pit cycle.
