Even if it was subjective...Kurt was better.

Sometimes it's been awarded jointly like when Sheckter crashed out of the lead as a rookie, he shared it with the highest finishing rookie.

But in this case it was all Kurt. No question about it.

Karam did well but there's no doubt Kurt did a better job considering his lack of experience in the car and formula.

One of the dumbest comments I saw was that Sage passed more cars and Kurt only finished 6th because of attrition... :slaphead:

Isn't Rookie of the Race NOT a subjective thing? I though it always automatically went to the highest finishing rookie. Kurt finished ahead of Sage. Simple as that.

It's a vote from members of the media, apparently.

Even so, a raw rookie starting just outside the top-10 and finishing in the top-6? That's not easy to attain. Sage's race was great in itself, but Kurt, with 0 experience in open wheelers, just showed up to the Speedway and nearly got a top-5 out of it.

To me it seems in indycar, the term rookie is subjective and they do some weird stuff once in a while with "rookie" status. Like for example, back in 2012 Rubens won the ROY award at indy yet wasnt eligable for the season ROY award. Was there ever an explanation given for that? I never got that.

Those final laps were what racing was all about, good clean and exciting racing. Great job of driving by all three drivers to give everybody the finish we got today. That was a tremendous display of skill behind the wheel.

I agree with those.

I was never into oval racing. I had watched parts of Indy500 before but last Sunday was the first time I watched an entire Indy500 live. :)

Yes, it was hard, clean racing between skilled drivers and you can't ask for more than that

I've posted my pics from the Carpenter Hinchcliffe crash in the members photo section if anyone's interested in those: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=8740
