Considering no one crashed in the lights race I think they had more finishers than the main indycar race :8:

Anyway, glad scott won. I don't really rate castroneves as anything more than the rubens of indycar tbh.
He couldn't get it done when he had the best car in cart, he couldn't win it when he had by far the best car when penske moved to the irl on their own and smacked down the competition there and he hasn't shown championship chops since.
So the right man won on the night.

Glad for power to win on an oval tho. Not too happy about his obvious block on dixon on a restart but that's just penskes tactics.

Remember when dario couldn't win on an oval in cart, then he finally got that monkey off his back and became the dominate champion we all know?

There may well be no stopping will now :)

That was an exciting race.. I was hoping Helio would win it, just because I hate Ganassi.

A little more detail from the IndyCar official Twitter:

Quote:
Medical update: Justin Wilson has non-operable pelvic fractures and a small pulmonary contusion. He will be kept overnight for observation.

Bummed out that Dixon won the title but his second half of the year has been pretty spectacular. Penske have a real knack for knowing how to lose a championship. I think this is 6 in a row now where they've choked right at the death.

@ Codename - No, just no. Castro Neves is not the Rubens of Indycar. That's hugely insulting.

When he had the best equipment he was always second to gil de ferran.
Including 2002 when it was just those 2 and Hornish head and shoulders above everyone else in the field.

I seem to hate both teams equally so all that's left is to compare the drivers and I think the right man won in the end.

Castro Neves has come a damn sight closer to title triumphs than Rubens ever did. That's my objection to your comparison. Plus he's achieved a significant amount more (Indy 500's, etc...) without being someone else's whining lackie. That's not to say I totally disagree with your assessment on him versus De Ferran and Hornish.

The scariest thing about Wilsons' accident is that the speed Vautier T-boned him was not that great (in relation to full speed), yet he was badly injured. Wouldn't like to think the injuries if he hit him any quicker..

Well even though the DW12 was designed to fit larger drivers, I wonder if it still leaves the big guys a little more vulnerable than the rest.

Pleased for Dixon. Glad the stupid Will Power tactics came to nothing.

Hope the rumours mentioned in the broadcast are true. Sato really does crash too much. Conor Daly would be a much better option, imo.

I find it funny that the one time Will Power actually wins a big oval race, he's not in the championship hunt.

Does Texas 2011 not count?

I don't consider that race big. Big in the big picture, yeah...

Yeah I know, it was a long shot. It wasn't a true race because of the grid slot draw and being just 50% race distance.

Oh, I forgot that Texas had a doubleheader one time. My point still stands, tho.

Stoked for Dixon. After some of the luck he's had, i'm glad he still won in the end.

I dunno if this has been the case all season, however I was looking at the Box Score for Fontana, and noticed the name of the Chassis. It's listed as IR-12.... :(

Great race. All the more reason Indycar needs to get back to Michigan.

I have not been following these series in recent years. But 'pink' flag to start/restart the race? where did that come from?
