Quote:
Scottish-born Franchitti was airlifted to hospital and was sad to be 'awake and alert'

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

lol I missed both of those. Personally I think he'd have been delighted to be awake and alert.

I was unaware that Franchitti was airlifted to hospital. Is that true? All I saw was him leaving in an ambulance.

Debris from the crash also flew over the top of the safety fencing, injury some spectators.

Ermm... it says "two people killed in fiery crash - Southeast Houston" at the start of that clip. I hope that's totally unrelated.

It's not true. DM made it up unsurprisingly.

Thankfully yes it is. That relates a to a road traffics accident where a pickup truck rolled and burst into flames.

I wish Dario a speedy recovery but I cannot see him racing at Fontana.

Nor I.

As for the repercussions on Indycar itself if something like that were to happen...probably not good!

I don't think anyone expected a crash at that part of the track, let alone a crash like this one. 8O

..and there lies the problem that often happens in more tragic events, not many work on the theory that just because it's not expected to happen, doesn't mean it cannot happen.

Apparently the spinal fracture won't need surgery but the ankle fracture will.

ESPN's Sportscenter actually led off with the Indy race. Their highlights of the race included a 1.5 second clip of Dario prerace and then they immediately cut to the crash. I don't even think they mentioned who won.

Thank you, standard sports media, for guaranteeing that the only time I see spoilers for an Indycar race I DVR is when there's a massive wreck. :yuk:
