The pictures I have seen about the aftermath of the accident really tell that if the accident had happened earlier, the race would have been red-flagged.

I can't agree with you less about those points. Helio shouldn't be punished for incidents that he has no involvement in. Karma would / should be affecting Power.

My point was that karma got Team Penske for their actions at Sonoma which were designed to help Helio as he is their only championship contender. How would hampering Will be karmic retribution for that?

I don't believe karma should repay Penske for their actions at Sonoma as Dixon and Ganassi were equally responsible. Power was the Penske in the pit box that Dixon strayed in to, so Castro Neves wasn't a contributing factor to the incident.

Yea well, without rehashing the whole multi-page discussion that ensued after Sonoma, let's just agree to disagree about that whole deal. In my book, that was a Penske orchestration and they got their comeuppance at Houston so I'm happy.

And Gaara, you can save the sarcasm as I hate Ganassi with a passion the rest of the time. :)

I dislike both teams with a passion, but Ganassi were as much at fault as Penske. Placing / moving the entire pit crew towards the front of the pit box wasn't a sensible decision, neither was exiting the pit box with tyres blazing instead of in a sensible and controlled manner, neither was ambling around behind the car holding a tyre...

EDIT - I looked back at what I said in the Sonoma race thread...

I'm 50/50 on the incident. On one hand the pit crew shouldn't be playing games in the pitlane nor taking other team's cars for granted when completing their job, but on the other hand Dixon (and every other driver) is ultimately in control of leaving the pit box so should be more circumspect when in tight positions. With the angle Dixon's car was leaving the pit box, he would have almost brushed the tyre man even if he was standing in a sensible position.

I didn't like the penalty call but I can see why it was given.

And Dixon has pulled a few "dick moves" in his career as well. Can't remember the year, but he did steer his spinning car into the path of his championship rival at Detroit. "It was not intentional."

2007 was the year, Franchitti in the Andretti car was his rival.

2007 was a serious dick move. But karma played out well. Had he not done that, Dario would've won that race and then only needed to finish second at Chicagoland to take the title. As it happens, Dixon cost Dario points but then ran out of fuel whilst leading at Chicagoland which gave Dario the points he needed. The karma of the situation was so beautiful it was amazing.

Dixon ran out of fuel through turns 3-4 on the very last lap, while leading. I remember cheering very loudly.

The only thing that has been confirmed is that Franchitti will not be driving - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/110461

Ryan Briscoe was my first thought since he drove for Ganassi at Indy but he'll be driving at the Petit Le Mans.

If I were Chip I'd look at Carlos Muñoz, He did a brilliant job for Andretti Autosport at Indy & would be a good candidate for a full time ride should Dario decide not to come back.

How about Arie Luyendyk? He's subbed before at Fontana for Ganassi. :p

I was thinking about that too, but they probably hire someone with experience to support Dixon. Maybe Briscoe? or is he racing the Panther car again that weekend?
