I'm also beginning to wonder if Ganassi pitted closer to the Penske pit to do what happened at Mid Ohio last year. If they did then I guess it just bit them in the arse.

Thought Barfield handled himself very well and I still think it was an iffy call, but his explanation was pretty legit.

And Dixon has pulled a few "dick moves" in his career as well. Can't remember the year, but he did steer his spinning car into the path of his championship rival at Detroit. "It was not intentional."

You don't want any kind of games being played in pit lane with all those people around all that machinery, so Indycar will hopefully look into this at great length soon and change some rules so that at least penalties can be a discretionary call instead of black and white.

Still, good race, a shame they managed to run the race under the brian barnheardt book of bullshit rules (a book that had only very recently landed back on US soil after being heavily studied in Belgium only hours before...) but aside from that, had enough going on to be entertaining.

would seriously think about running a layout that didn't have a huge target painted on everyone at turn 7 though....
After a while you have to assume the track is just inviting people to outbreak themselves and maybe you should move the layout elsewhere...

I'm 50/50 on the incident. On one hand the pit crew shouldn't be playing games in the pitlane nor taking other team's cars for granted when completing their job, but on the other hand Dixon (and every other driver) is ultimately in control of leaving the pit box so should be more circumspect when in tight positions. With the angle Dixon's car was leaving the pit box, he would have almost brushed the tyre man even if he was standing in a sensible position.

I didn't like the penalty call but I can see why it was given.
