See, this is where I'd get Ford involved.

Or Volkswagen. It's a very popular brand in the US despite not being American. I really don't think, at this point, that Americans will care that much whether IndyCar has Ford because it's American or whatever...As long as they can identify with it on some level then that is good. More people have Fords than VW though so...hmmm.

Ford-Judd doesn't have as nice a ring to it as Ford-Cosworth or Volkswagen-Judd though.

Mazda would be another good choice as that is pretty popular with people in the US these days. And they actually have experience in American motorsport...and Laguna Seca. :D

Mazda would never do anything like this in the US.

Mazda is everywhere in American open wheel except for IZOD IndyCar. They will have a hard time justifying a program though with their current financial forecast.

Ford has stated on multiple occasions that they where willing to stay in open wheel when ChampCar was around and they supported working a deal with the IRL. When they knew that wasn't working they left and haven't looked back yet.

Dodge / Chrysler / Fiat / SRT have been whispered around certain groups but in the same way BFGoodrich and Michelin are when they show up to events outside of sports car racing.

Volkswagen, I will believe it when they show up with a car and engine. How many times have the VW or Audi boys talked about F1 now?

I remember the time when Mika Häkkinen was chasing his first title that VW would make it's entry to F1 in the year 2000. After that the rumour has been revived every now and then.

They were quite close for 2014, FIA and other manufacturers even bit their own tongues when they promised that the new turbo engines would be 4-cylinders, just to be nice for Audi and make them come. And what happened? They changed their mind yet again. So it didn't happen for F1 and it's not going to happen for IndyCar either.

But Fiat-Chrysler might be something that could buy Judd's program. Or maybe Ford would finally do something, they've been almost a full decade out of the top level open-wheel racing series.

it wasn't going to last very much longer anyway the city wanted to demolish the airport and turn it into houses or something

Very very few actually. It's more rumours than VW or Audi talking about it, and when Audi talk about it, it's never positive.

Randy said that it's unfortunate but Edmonton was off the 2013 calendar anyway.

Maybe that was why the promoter backed out.

Not that I've heard of.

One can hope that Vancouver makes their triumphant return...I would say Cleveland, but there's still a good scent of anti-IRL elitism in that city.

lol living in the past

I second this.

Or an easier way to do it: a few Truck/Nationwide starts before the Indycar season gets underway in 13

Dario is really good on ovals, and he had a terrible NASCAR career. You think giving Power one will somehow help...

Maybe Will is just apathetic towards oval racing. No interest, hence no success. Just runs them because he has to. You look at the other Indycar guys that grew up on road racing yet were successful on ovals like Dan, Dario or Helio and you see that they all had a real passion for it. It's the same way for some oval drivers in NASCAR, like Kenseth, that were willing to take a points hit in the two road races such was their overall disinterest in road racing. Of course now they are forced to take it seriously or risk missing the Chase. But anyway, that is the only reason I can think of for someone with obvious natural talent such as Will to display such a night and day difference in performance between oval and road racing.

Will's had some good showings on Ovals, he's a crap load better than most of the drivers out there on them as well, just look at Chicago 2010, sooner or later he will win on one (excluding Texas 2011)

Not strictly IndyCar related, but Rubens Barrichello is racing in the Brazilian Stock Car V8s at Interlagos in a big prize race.
