"Unfortunately the software was not removed"... right so it was all a big accident, and the drivers were just pressing the button on the restarts for the lols?

Well if it's disabled for restarts perhaps some drivers still press it purely for their own psychological boost.

They should have P2P like in Toca Race Driver 3 mod that gives you jumping boost

Racer.com article on this stuff

A very interesting quote:

Quote:
RACER also understands at least one team raised its concern regarding Penske drivers illegally using P2P in 2023 and went as far as sending the series onboard video clips of what it considered abnormal button use for IndyCar to review.

Hmm. Methinks this might get a bit messy.

If Pruett's guess about spoofing the 'ON' signal is correct, then that opens up quite a few questions. In theory, it would allow P2P to be used on any track, at any time. Including ovals.

There is also a clip floating around of Newgarden's pass on Herta whilst he was using the button illegally - the lights do not come on. Could be a glitch. Might not be.

---------------------

Separately, it looks like whoever was orchestrating it intended for all 3 drivers to use it, and Power chose not to. If they were cutting him out and not wanting him to benefit, why modify his car in the same way?

How does one not gain "any time advantage" while gaining extra horsepower?

My guess is that he acknowledge that did not gain or lost any positions because of the help.

It's your classic "straw man fallacy". The fact is Scotty boy, you used the push to pass system in a situation that was not allowed. Whether you passed anyone or gained a time advantage is not the issue here.

There's not many drivers or organistations in motorsport left with any integrity is there? I would have more respect for the guy if he just came out and said "yeah we tried to gain an unfair advantage and we got caught".

Just another driver to add to the shit list.

Okay, I was working on a machine and posting in between tests and I totally glossed over the details.

Not announcing the penalty until now makes sense, and F Team Penske.

This isn't The Beast, but just flat out cheating.

I think that's a little harsh on him. I am not partial to him or anything, but I think it's a reasonable urge for a driver in his position to point out that he didn't benefit from the infraction, especially when he's not arguing against the penalty.

Maybe, but I am fucking sick of hearing the "yeah we cheated but it didn't work so it doesn't matter" stance that people use when they are caught.

It doesn't matter that you didn't get any apparent "benefit" from your cheating, the fact is, you cheated. That's literally it.
