This has all the hallmarks of an early 90s, Paul Tracy "Lap the field twice, then trip over a backmarker and crash late on" race :-0

jeez their pace is absolutely insane! How are only the top 4 on the lead lap? And with 4th about to be lapped as well!

Phoenix I wanna say...maybe the Mansell season because that's the first time I realised Indycar existed, obviously

Pato is the god emperor of the series today. Unreal.

Ah, ok, I was gonna say nazarath maybe? I gotta go look it up now lol

Edit: Found this quote in an old news article,
"He dominated the Valvoline 200 at Phoenix, lapping the field twice before getting involved in an accident with Jimmy Vasser."

I mean, it's inevitable there'll be a yellow (though because it's indycar I'm fully expecting some worn tyre issues/spins/wrecks bringing out a legitimate yellow) so it's a case of if he has short run pace late on as much as long run pace

By then, he might be the only one on the lead lap, so mistakes could be his only enemy today... :8:

This feels more old school, long stints meaning there are gaps and few cars on the lead lap. No cautions to keep the field together.

This is some crazy level of dominance. What have they found with that setup? He can put the car anywhere.

Phoenix 1993. It turned out to be Mario Andretti's last IndyCar victory after Tracy crashed out in traffic.

And oddly enough that race was April 4th, same race weekend of the year as this basically

And a shot of the grandstands to make me wonder why we debate whether Indycar should come here or not, it seems no-one in Texas actually gives a shit about this race or Indycar in general.... :(

Oh definitely, not every race has to be broken up into a series to sprint races to keep those with very short attention spans interested.

Two leaders pitting. Still only puts another 6(?) cars back on the lead lap. Old skool.

Way too high. Although 2 years ago he would have spun out long before he got to turn 4.
