Any brake failure into 3 will see the unfortunate end up in Alabama.

Neither Honda nor Chevy expect to be supplying any new full-timers next year, although the door is held open for the possibility of the SPAM-DRR tie-up mentioned yesterday.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I have no idea haow taht pit lane is supposed to work. Especially since the pit entry seems to be in biggest breaking zone of the whole lap.

The layout itself looks boring as hell. None of those corners are interesting, just a bunch of 90-degree lefthanders and a hairpin. But it's still probably going to create a more exciting show than more Laguna Seca bullshit. At least Nashville 2.0 appears to be rife with passing zones.

In his latest podcast MP mentiones that the paddock seems to think Palou has a McLaren contract but will drive F1 in a Williams (for McLaren) next year.

Pagenaud still not fit, Lundqvist remains in the #60 at IMS.

https://racer.com/2023/08/08/lundqvist- ... ad-course/

Separately, Shank is holding a press conference of some description on Friday. Not sure if it's Indy or IMSA-related.

Moar Silly Season from Brown and the Indy Star.

https://eu.indystar.com/story/sports/mo ... 530689007/

tl;dr
-Brown believes that Malukas is in line to replace DeFrancesco at Andretti - he bases this on Malukas being open about his number one choice not being reliant on either Palou or Ericsson. In other words, he isn't counting on a vacancy at Ganassi, and Andretti is the only other top-end team known to have a vacancy for next year. He has also stated that he won't be bringing money from the family firm, implying that the ride he is chasing will be paid, and Andretti has already said he won't be running any pay drivers next year.
-Andretti is chasing 'one of' Malukas, Armstrong and Ilott alongside Ericsson.
-The story regarding Floyd and Ericsson matches Pruett's - Ericsson is now free to negotiate but his current boss has bent to his demands somewhat with his latest offer.
-Which leaves Andretti in a bit of a dilemna - he isn't completely sour on Grosjean (and last weekend will have helped), but he desparatly wants Ericsson and his interest in Malukas is documented above. He only has 2 seats available. If he signs one of the two new options now, he may be forced into deciding between the other 1 and Grosjean later on.
-Ilott looks like he is staying put at Juncos thanks to a break clause that no-one seems willing to meet.
-To finish, it may be that DHL are moving on from Andretti.

Kyle Kirkwood could be in Penske's sights if Will Power doesn't extend his contract

I once again ask to put Rosenqvist, Lundqvist and Lundgaard into the same team and run identical liveries.

In IndyCar off-season, they can go together to Daytona 24 hours.

Pruett's nose is against the millstone; a second Silly Season article in the space of 9 days.

https://racer.com/2023/08/11/indycar-si ... 2-edition/

tl;dr
-The scenario of Palou staying where he is is now firmly back on the table. But (a lot of) money would have to change hands as SPAM do hold some sort of legally-binding option over him.
-Floyd's offer to Ericsson was not good enough and the belief remains that he will be driving for Andretti next year. But nothing is set.
-FRosen to RLLR is also a firm belief, although both sides have alternative options.
-SPAM's 4th car may now be a tie-up with an existing team and car and maybe even driver, who would instead carry SPAM branding and have SPAM staff embedded. The lucky team would be either ECR, JHR or Foyt.

As expected, Blomqvist will replace Castroneves who'll go to an Indy 500 only schedule.

because of course

perhaps he might have some proposals from F1 assuring him a seat, or he'll stick at the indycar fuel saving champions
