There will be no streaming coverage of the open test at Thermal - it would have cost a fair chunk to install all the equipment from scratch and the series concluded that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

-----

Foyt has changed Pedersen's number from 88 to 55 after people clocked the connotations of pairing 88 with 14.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Back to this year, and Bitnile have somehow found the money to paint all of Special Ed's cars in their colours.

Leaders' Circle money cut by $150k with the money being diverted into the bigger marketing budget.

IndyCar to ditch double points at the 500

I know some folks will like this,

personally not a big fan of the change - the 500 should always be worth more on the championship as well in some way

The Indy 500 is the only race in the calendar, that doesn't need any extra value added to it. Not a single person more watches the Indy 500 because it awards the most points. So I like they ditch that.

I didn't mind it. Double points were justified on the basis that the 500 is twice as long as any other race on the calendar.

--------

Floyd is giving a test to Nick Cassidy, presumably with at least one eye on the choice of Palou's replacement for next year.

Wasn't expecting that. Would rather see Pippa in the 500. Not sure a 42 year old who hasn't raced an Indycar for 10 years is going to achieve much, but maybe I'll be proven wrong.

Same about Pippa, she works super hard for her sponsors and has more oval experience and obviously, as you said, more recent IndyCar oval experience.

Did she piss someone off or something?

Edit: Nothing against Lady Kat, personally or professionally.

Edit 2: I have read Pipa say in the past that trying to put together a program for the 500 pretty much fucks up her chance to earn for almost half a year. So maybe she chose not to.
