Useless driver in the way.

It's not F1, they don't have to jump out of the way.

Unless the driver has been lapped by everyone in the field, which is why Ferrucci moved over.

the best moment at this track was certainly 1997, Greg passing both PacWests at closing stages

Veekay binned it on the last lap

Power and Team Penske managed that race absolutely perfectly. One more lap and Rossi would have caught him.

Power had that under control, despite Diffey ramping up the faux drama

Power certainly did what it took, but I think the drama was legit. We’ve seen enough to know those red tires absolutely dive off a cliff on extended runs. That gap closing was completely organic, because I think Power knew he couldn’t dilly-dally at all coming to the finish.

TBK: A Bad race, all strategy, 2000s F1 dullness

Indycar Communities on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook et all: RACE OF THE SEASON!!! If you don't like that kinda racing, you're not a motorsport fan!!

SMH, the race was about a 4/10 but if they were all like that, I'd do something else with my Sunday evenings

Next week, Road America, it will probably be another procession, but no one will complain and it will be one of the best races of the season, because Road America. Like F1 at Spa, or Monza, so it's all good. Stop complaining.

I used to have that taped on VHS. Rewatched so many times. Man what a classic.

I don't really get the negativity on this one. Not an absolute classic, but the different tyre strategies mixed things up. A lot of overtaking. Finishing order completely different from the starting order. Win going down to the final lap. One more lap would have made it very interesting, but I enjoyed it. *shrug*

Very much agree. There was plenty of passing too for street circuit standards.

I enjoyed very much because Power tried something different that paid off big

It'd be a borefest if it was the leading pack saving fuel and tires given the race had no cautions

The attraction of a street circuit is the challenge it is supposed to present to the drivers. The walls are supposed to be next to the track. Mistakes are supposed to be punished with damage and retirement. It is supposed to be exciting to watch a single car go around and see how close they come to wiping the stickers off their tyres. Belle Isle is one of the best in this regard and I hope the new circuit retains this character.

Not entirely sure why there is moaning about fuel strategy either - this was quite obviously a comfortable 2 stop race at best (25-25-20) without any chance of stretching it to 1 stop. So if there was any fuel saving, it was because the car(s) were underfilled.
