A noted theme that all of us associate with the greatest spectacle in racing Jim Cornelison and 'Back Home Again in Indiana' (2019) "The Club" - 4 Time Winners of the Indianapolis 500: A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Rick Mears, Helio Castroneves (this is one of the very few photos of the 4 time winners together at the Speedway. Al Unser passed away in December of 2021) Official Pace Car: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 70th Anniversary Edition (pace car driver: Sarah Fisher) Official Parade & Festival Cars: 2022 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible Essential Links: Timing & Scoring: IndyCar IMS Radio Network Weather Forecast (The Weather Company) Event History Series Rulebook (IndyCar) IndyCar Fantasy Challenge - driven by Firestone Raceday.watch Schedule (all times are local to the circuit - US Eastern / UTC-4) Spoiler: Broadcast (TV / Streaming / Radio) Information: Spoiler: Entries: Spoiler: Event Changes: - Capacity limits have been fully lifted for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began. - Qualifying format has been modified for 2022. Sunday's pole shootout has been expanded to 2 rounds; fastest 12 cars from Saturday will advance into the "Top 12" on Sunday. The fastest 6 cars from the "Top 12" will move on to the "Fast 6" shootout to decide pole position & the front 2 rows of the grid. NTT INDYCAR Series championship points will be awarded to those qualifying in positions 1-12. Slight time modifications were made for Last Chance Qualifying as well, however this will go un-used due to a lack of bumping (only 33 entries). - Pit Stop Competition returns for the first time since 2019. The previous 2 years was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like in past years, this will be held following final practice on Carb Day (May 27th) - concerts return on Carb Day (artists: Kings of Chaos, Rick Springfield, Morris Day) and on race day with the Snake Pit (artists: Yellow Claw, Steve Aoki, deadmau5, Martin Garrix & Galantis) - Legends Day also returns, which features the public drivers meeting & full field autograph session. - on-track sessions featuring the Vintage Indy Registry / historical IndyCars will not be apart of the 500 lineup. Instead, they will have 3 days of running in June during SVRA's SpeedTour event - including 2 days on the 2.5 mile oval. - at-track betting has been introduced at IMS in partnership with Caesar's Sportsbook. - It appears that the local television blackout & delayed broadcast will return for 2022 (after being lifted in 2020 + 2021 with capacity restrictions). Full details have yet to be released by WTHR - including on how it effects Peacock subscribers in the blackout region. ah the best time of the year, every month of may we're back home again in Indiana, spending some times in the banks of the Wabash, and then seeing cars blaze by on the banks of the speedway |

I think he made a new year resolution of stay out of TBK as it wasn't doing much good for him. I know that for me, staying out of any talk, here and anywhere else about Max vs Hamilton last year was the best thing to just enjoy the best title fight ever instead of the most infuriating one. |

NBC/Peacock coverage but ad-free. 1080p60. Races are more widely geoblocked but practices and qualifyings are only blocked in US (the pdf below says only US but the 500 might be a special case). 1) You need to create an account and sign-in 2) then be in a non-blocked country (or use VPN) when viewing the stream. If it is blocked it says so instantly on the page even before the stream is live. Full list of countries where it is available: https://www.indycar.com/-/media/Files/2 ... TORIES.pdf |

Was just thinking that I think we had only...2 crashes across the entire event last year? (and one of them was someone not having a wheel put on right in the race itself, IIRC) Must've been one of the cleanest months of may in history, will be interesting to see if we can go completely crash free this year. I expect nothing until the power goes up for fast friday, anyway, unless something crazy happens and it randomly rains before they have a chance to red it or some shit like that |

The cars do seem overly dialed in. I know that’s a weird thing to complain about but, aside from qualifying trim, they don’t really have that on-the-edge vibe at all anymore. |
